I'd agree with that, right now you can't request a claim like in squad so if you have a bad SL, no one gets vehicles, and the squad size restriction stops me from grabbing a vehicle from spawn myself if people don't join squads

I think I'm going to add the following:
Ability for squad members to request vehicles.
Potentially lowering the squad size requirement to 2 players for most vehicles.
Scaling the size requirement based on the current lobby count, so low population servers can still use the vehicles.
Optional setting to completely disable any and all claiming restrictions, kind of like how kit restrictions can be disabled.

There are some servers that get the maps right but a lot of servers have had vehicles on layouts that just don’t work well with vehicles

There are kits that have squad size restrictions, so in a similar way maybe the smaller vehicles could require less members than the bigger ones or something. So you can at least get to the front line if the server is too empty. The opfor small boy does not seem to dangerous anywaysh. Also if less than 10 players on the server a squad of 2 should be enough. Less than 6, free vehicles for all.
Cause at that point there is literally a vehicle per player 😄

I like the idea of unarmed light vehicles being unlocked on low pop servers, but IME if the server isn't full enough to unlock several AT on a side, someone will grab a tank/IFV and go spawn camp the other side. I've been on too many 5 v 5 servers where one dude is just rampaging around and you have no recourse. Or, you have two IFVs fighting each other with a handful of infantry running around in the middle of it and it's no fun. All in for Armored maps, where it's a ton of vehicles, and maybe some infantry though.

That’s why the vehicles have a squad requirement to claim them.
Each vehicle has its own claiming requirement
So a light vic could need 1 or maybe even no squad members
But heavy ifvs have maybe 3 player eequirement
I was also thinking of literally just not spawning some vehicles on low player counts
I think that would be best tbh. Need to hit 10v10 or something. Can level designers change access to vehicles? So, if you wanted to build a small skirmish map to seed servers, it could be inf only, or only trans vehicles or similar.

That would work well. I've played a bunch of Darkest Hour and they vehicle limits by map size, and by era. It changes things up. For logi especially, in conjuction with their logi system, how many logi trucks vary by map size. Sometimes none, sometimes 3 or 4.

Even if I gave out this mod, you would still have to make your own copy with your vehicles and it wouldn't really work with another version of the vehicle mod.

A server with 18~30 players has been up lately with this mod, I truly found how great the mod makes the gameplay
but sometimes, much time passes and squad leaders just dont go for vehicles
I wish there was something to enable non SL to use a vehicle if it has been unused for a certain amount of time

That's pretty nice, that way if there's no claiming, you can still grab a vehicle for a fob and not waste it if you don't need it later by leaving it unlocked. Lots of options for players could come out of that

Suggestion: main gun stabilization would be a welcome addition. As it is currently, it's almost impossible to fire accurately while moving.

and to help counter all the vehicle upgrades, ive made plenty of AT weapons for my factions so your squad's AT rifleman isn't being worked to death every match

Yah that claiming system sounds annoying. The ideal way for now probably would be to keep one vehicle per squad and you can only claim a vehicle if you have a squad size of 3 or more. If it drops below you lose that claim and if you leave the squad you lose the claim
No idea how to do that but you probably know lol
Also edge cases where you lose claims while in the vehicle would be annoying
It might just be better to get admin tools going and let server admins deal with people trolling

Perhaps you could do after a certain period of time of the vehicle being left unused it could respawn. This would also solve another issue where sometimes people drive the vehicles under water where you can't reach them and leave them there.

Can you rework some of the top speed of vehicles like the btr 82 with the 30 mm is pretty dam slow compared to the btr 80
Other vehicles can also use a top speed reduction to make them more contralble at top speed
Like the BRDM and the MRAP are a bit to quic which makes them uncontrollable at top speed
The drifting when taking corners is super bad, if that can be tweaked or improved on that would be lovely
Brakes could use a 10-15% more boost in terms of effectiveness, baiscly make da breaks a little better

I think all vehicles should have minimum 2 to curb trolls. But might be a good idea to make it adjustable by server owners. Claiming probably should be off by default so if someone just wants to screw around offline, they can with less setup

AP can kill infantry with a direct hit, or if your face is 2 inches away from there an AP shell impacts

I’m talking about rearming infantry from the vehicle similar to how it works in squad.
It builds ammo resource passively and infantry rearm using ammo resource.

In DH, if you lose your role and can't drive, it doesn't kick you out, it lets you keep driving, but once you exit, you can't reenter the drivers seat. So, it least lets you get back to a safe place instead of leaving you and an orphaned vehicle in the middle of nowhere.
DH too. Except for armor. Tanks will stay until killed.
An re-arm idea, stolen from DH. As a logi guy, I don't like the idea of ammo only tied to FOBs, as it would only make FOBs easier to find. DH has separate ammo crates for infantry, armor/AT guns, grenades and AT rockets. Riflemen can also give MGs and AT guys ammo in the field, but that's a different issue. Having separate ammo adds strategic choices, since they all cost supply points. What I normally try to do is get inf ammo in the cap, and armor ammo outside the cap somewhere hidden, or behind the crest of a hill, so if they want, they can park hull down next to it. FOBs often go down, so if your forward ammo is tied to it, it's lost. Hide your ammo though, and it's likely there all match. Their rearm method is different too, instead of an instant rearm, you get one round at a time, like every 5 seconds. Only grenades and AT rockets you can pick up and go, otherwise, you have to stay there for a bit.

Admin tool fixups:
- Vehicle list needs some re-work and also buttons for kicking everyone out and moving the vehicle need to be added.
- Leaving admin tool still shows all the player widgets, need to make player widgets actors so they can be easily destroyed.
Frag and AP ammo for vehicles where it is appropriate.
Save game panel needs option to create a new save for another map / anything other then the current map.
Need to add unsaved star indicator when settings are changed + revert button.
Maybe add duplicate save button, so the same settings can be set for another map.

Like.. You would need 2 people to fully operate - pilot (rear cockpit) and gunner (front cockpit). And the gunner should be able to use the turret. Like in Ponchovies wagner mod. It should have fast rate of fire and explosive rounds.
Also I think that pilot should have an ability to shoot hydra rockets - rpg-like rockets, but with smoke grenade - like white trails. Also mi-24 can carry up to eight passengers.

What if APCs/IFVs had a special ability maybe only reserved for the SL/squad member in the driver seat.
So force dismount the passengers.
So instead of telling everyone to get out and having to wait for one dude to get tf out of the APC.
You just poop everyone out and dip.
This would be for APCs/IFVs for inserting infantry into place.s

No ERA on BMP-3.
Maybe on an MBT one day.
I have idea for later update.
Placeable vehicle depot.
Can only be placed within HAB radius.
Can only spawn small transport vehicles that do not have any fancy claiming restrictions.
This way you can always have a few transports near the front-line instead of people playing walking-simulator.
But I'm not going to bother with that right now.

Most ERA needs to be put on thick steel plates or else they fracture the plates when they explode.

Everything is a 1-2, maybe 3 hit in the mod right now.
Before at one point it was a 6-8 hit. That was super unfair to the infantry.
If you wanna base off of irl it's also accurate. I don't think anything short of a heavily armored IFV or a MBT can shrug off a direct rocket.

From a gameplay standpoint, you cannot shoot your weapon while the big giant gun is busy loading.
The smoke from the ejection port in the back can give your position away.
The Barrel receding and moving up/down also tells people that you are busy reloading.

Fixed a bug where all non-squad members got kicked out when a squad member attempted to enter and the vehicle was full.
Also fixed a thing where empty, claimed vehicles were not getting claimed by squad leaders
imma add a priority system for the vehicle seats.
