After you pickup a weapon in OHD for some reason it's always empty and you have to reload it (applying to all items). Not sure if this is some weird feature, but the single loaded weapons including the Kar98k, the SKS, the M40A1, and the M1903 don't fire after picking up or after reloading. All reloading does is open chamber and closing it. This means any kit dropped that has any of the weapons listed, the weapons will not work or fire.
