here's a sample file
btw the textures are in a different file format (.GNF). I can open them already.
Hey, any luck? I want to 3d print a astro bot helmet for my little brother for halloween as hes obsessed, if not i'll have to just learn how to rip my own files.
Sadly no. Hopefully someone may find this and be interested cus of the hype around the new one.
Perhaps @potent kiln can help? (Sry if the pings are getting annoying)
But also if you wanna figure out how to rip them and tell me that would be great.
the magic "JXMD" implies the file is a direct X model (which apparently has the extension .x normally) but none of the importers i could find can load that file ๐ค
on the other hand im not experienced in ps4 ripping (i dont even have a ps4 ๐ญ ) so im not sure if it actually is a direct X file or if its a proprietary ps4 format
perhaps there are some ps4 modding/ripping discords that would have more info on that
Well thanks for the info ๐
We have info now! Thanks!
Also found the source where he found the JXMD info: https://docs.cycling74.com/max7/vignettes/filetypes
i dont know about automation but the format doesnt look too bad from a very lazy glance. There is probably a table that states where the start and stop of each data chunk is for the faces and what not
for the verts i see a table that has the starting offset, vert count, total size, stride size, and some data i dont know yet( maybe material index). Not sure how the face data works yet. I also dont have a pointer to any the data starts but there do seem to be sub headers that stand out
VBDT is at the start that is holding this vert definition table and VBBD being at the start of the verted data itself
IBBD seems to start the face data
GEOM has something to do with the face groupings
i see what looks like a vert count, and size value for the face. maybe the vert chunk index
That almost looks like a ship part to me!
I also have an Astro Bot "model" file here too
Also forgot that there's normal maps on my hard drive for that model too
It is
Also to my knowledge, GMF files are the textures, can be opened with a piece of software used for Atlus games like Persona 5.
But I have no clue how the hell Astro's face works texture wise, so I'm very curious.
Only thing I can think of is that they're emissive spritesheet textures.
Also this is from long ago when someone else used model researcher to figure it out. Seems to be the main ship part.
Whoa, sweet! Can you replicate these settings? I want to try it out myself!
Was not done by me and they didn't really give any info so can't tell you :(
Oh :\ Do you know who originally made this?
dkdave
I'm guessing he isn't in this server :\
Ay sup, ive been kind of interested in astro bot recently so i wanted to follow this forum
i havent been toying with it recently due to toying with conker still. the format isnt too bad to poke around at least. Manually finding face and vert data is easy enough. Automating it and getting the rigging is another
Probably you can DM him about it.
If so, do you know what's his username?
That Is his username
Really? It's just "dkdave"?
Yeah should be
Astro Bot: Rescue Mission
Did you contact him yet?
I can't seem to friend him or DM him. He doesn't seem to take friend requests from the looks of it.
Sorry to interrupt but hey atleast you're not begging them to rip ASTRO BOT's model & port it to other games
