First Character: Wren
Wren is a halfling (half elf, half tiefling in the homebrew universe that she is a part of) who is an outcast from her home in Tievalinnan due to her demonic heritage. For 6 years she lived in the Great Forest on her own after being sent away, with little memory of what happened. But years later, when she and a group of strangers all cross paths and seem to have ties together in the events to come, they all must work together to stop history from repeating while the ghosts of their pasts are hot on their heels. She must unravel the secrets of her past, but can she keep herself from unraveling when faced with the truth?

Wren actually went through a few changes from her original concept. At first she looked human, but was meant to be a witch who was part of a coven that was delving into researching Necromancy (which in this campaign, it’s forbidden) and someone ratted them out and everyone had to flee, which caused Wren to be separated from her mother and sister and her having an adventuring party was supposed to motivate her to go out and look for them since she wouldn’t have been alone anymore.
In her redesign, she still had some of her original stuff, but her race was changed which in turn changed the lore for her. Instead of her being part of a coven and hunted, she was exiled and an outcast from her home with little memory of her past. And her adventuring became the way she would unlock some of those memories before finally returning home to confront part of her past.
Next Character: Ciriciel (Sur-See-Uhl)
As a stranger in a strange land with no past or knowledge of where she is to draw from, Circe went looking for whatever felt familiar to her. She came across a church and became a member of it easily and slowly got more integrated into society. Learning more about how it functions, some individuals who seem to be viewed as heroes amongst their people, and places of note to look into such as the academy in town. While working as part of this church, she has seen people come in with some nasty wounds that were treated by the staff, with some being so ill that the usual treatments wouldn’t work, and others who were healthy enough would mention troubling things such as people disappearing without a trace, with some speculating demons or other darker forces at play. When she was walking home one night and took a turn the wrong way, she found a dead body but when she went back to it after getting help, it was gone. In her confusion she thought to herself maybe she had a hallucination. After returning home, she went up to the rooftop to overlook the city in hopes it’d help clear her head and she saw someone, who she has never met before, stop abruptly to turn and look up at her, as if they knew her. It filled her with dread and made her feel unsafe so she returned back inside and shut her window. Making sure to lock it for the first time since living there. She waited a few hours, hoping her nerves would settle. But when they weren’t showing signs of settling and everything from the past few months alone began to flash through her mind, she decided that staying in her room and waiting it out wouldn’t work. So she wrote a note for any of the staff to find should they come into her room. When finished, she folded it neatly on her desk and blew out the candle, grabbed her satchel, said goodbye to sleepy Bartholomew, and went out the window, making sure to shut it behind her, and flew off into the night towards the forest beyond.
Currently she isn’t finished on Hero Forge since the clothes she’d wear and the hairstyle of choice isn’t available so there’s no picture of her finished mini, but there is some work in progress pictures
Also the art pictured of Circe above is made by a friend
Next Charater: Mareth
Mareth, born as Mareth Belfry before she married into the Godfrey family, was a an only daughter of a wealthy merchant family. When she married her husband (who also happened to be her childhood bestfriend) they vowed they’d stay together through sickness and in health. But when they decide to go adventuring together and a magic attempt fails, she has no choice but to abandon him. But when she returns later that night to retrieve his body and bring him home, there’s no evidence of what happened to him afterward. Fearful of the consequences, she returns home to pack when she needs before vanishing off into the night
Right: Original Mareth Design
Left: Mareth Redesign
Mareth’s concept had a lot of reworks both in design but also backstory. Originally her backstory was that she was turned into a vampire after she was successfully lured into a noble’s quarters, and then had to learn how to deal with her bloodlust while being stuck under his control. And her journey would encompass her learning how to deal with trauma, rage, and vengeance. But then I started rethinking how it could be reworked and eventually it came around to what I shared above
I did some tweaks but here’s the finished result
Next Character: Faylen Ravencrest
Faylen is a wood elf druid who resides in a little grove called the Thornwood in the Great Forest. She is an orphan after her village was attacked when she was much younger and her mother brought her to the Thornwood to keep her safe while she went back to try to help the village. She hasn’t been heard from since. Faylen, being the child of two well respected druids and one of which had a natural affinity for communing with spirits and the spirit realm as well as nature, has some very big shoes to fill. Those who knew of her parents knew how skilled they were as druids, and how they were fierce guardians of nature and balance. Faylen was supposed to be taught by them in order to fill their shoes, but that was taken from them. Now, Faylen must learn how to fill the shoes of her parents while learning what has become of them, her home, and what dangers are looming out in the world beyond.
She is another character who has had many design revisions. She was also the first character I’ve ever made.
