very wip content datapack

currently making a content datapack that's heavily inspired by thermal, mekanism, and immersive engineering in a way. will feature lava-based energy, powerful utility items, many machines, automation, crafts, etc!

currently only has like 2 items and 3 blocks but never lose your ambitions guys!

everything is done with vanilla items and displays because i will never ever ever make the players install a resourcepack

the video is deceiving there are many things going on there i just need to offset every ticking so you can see it better

whta actually is happening is
lava cauldron from minecart shoots out > placed down > block below it empties it and transports lava below itself > the block below below consumes the flowing lava for power > the other block mines up the empty cauldron and drops it into the hopper

Looks cool! I'm also working on a pack inspired by Immersive Engineering, so it's nice to see tech datapacks get more attention lately 😄
What's the redstone pouch for? Is it going to fuel custom tools or something in the future?

i thought of the pouch like just as a utility item (for carrying lots of redstone), but now i see it being used for redstone-expensive crafts if ill ever have those hm... maybe i could have a rail pouch as well

So far I have the IE wires, water wheel, and crusher, plus a few originial additions of my own^^

If the pouch is just for storing redstone I'd consider increasing the capacity a bit, since a stack of redstone blocks can already hold 9 stacks of dust :p

woah.. i also wanted to have that, with wires and all but,,, realized its gonna be such a pain to make 😭 so i opted for in-world block to block interactions via lava

whats the crusher for?

its kinda hard to make tech datapacks without adding automation and recipes for the sake of them being there 🙁 maybe i should plan out all of my gameplay first

Kinda like the thermal pulverizer, it turns cobble into gravel etc
It also turns ingots into dust, but those are useless atm since the crafting is at non-existent levels of wip 😅

will you have ore doubling with it? you know where you can crush raw ores

Maybe, but it feels kinda redundant now that vanilla has fortune on ores

well no.. youd get even more ores with fortune

how would you handle custom crafting btw? since theres no components for inputs and all

im kinda unsure what ill do, maybe throwing items together but thatd he laggy with all the checks and really not immersive

oh most definitely !! i love utility stuff, i also want a sawmill and since its all lava themed i wanna have a machine that makes planks and logs lavaproof :P maybe just general framed blocks like stairs and full blocks that cant be harmed even

I will probably be using the Smithed crafter again, I've used it in another pack and there's more packs using it. Basically a library for a crafting table clone that uses a barrel, and you can add recipes that check the items in that barrel which lets you check for components

It does use a resource pack though, not sure if you could use it without a rp. But you could always use the same technique!

How would you make inflammable planks? With item displays over stone blocks?

yeahs thats kinda what i thought ! coukd also just be used for framed blocks with frames made of cobblestone :3 wouldnt work with mods like jade tho

would be lots of ticking if ppl built with these tho
