What about the resources you were provided wasn't sufficient?
it goes over smithing trims specifically and doesnt rlly help me with my problem that much for me
smithing recipes just use normal items for the templates, so you can't add custom smithing templates in the way it sounds like you want. the best option available currently would be to use normally unobtainable and unusable items, like command blocks and structure blocks, as your templates
You might want to also try the Minecraft Wiki. There’s a page on trims and making custom ones. I think you might find something that helps you
i'll see what i can do for the smithing template then but what about my second question? I'm still not sure how to go around custom items made with stuff like components (Which is what i presume i'll have to do for the smithing template) being able to be used in crafting recipes
