I made a loot table and i put it in game, im pretty sure it works cuz i did the /loot command and it was there and it worked im just not sure if it will work naturally. Also how can I make finding the driftwood more common?

If this is replacing the vanilla fishing loot table, it should work naturally with no additional steps needed.

If you want to make it more common, you'll need to modify the main fishing loot table to make this common loot table have a higher weight

Well this common loot table isn't a vanilla loot table that you're overwriting. You need to modify and overwrite the vanilla fishing loot table, and make it drop this loot table as one of its possible entries

#

You can see what that loot table looks like here, as well as add entries to it. Then you'll save these contents in a JSON file in your data pack at minecraft/loot_table/gameplay/fishing

Minecraft Wiki

This tutorial explains how to create a data pack and resource pack that adds custom trim materials or patterns. It assumes you already know how to create a data pack.

#

Just adding a loot table file to your data pack or even to the Minecraft namespace doesn't make it spawn. You need to follow the rules of whatever mechanic you're working with, and for fishing, that means overwriting + adding to the loot table at that specific folder location and name
