#Datapack Worldgen Setup Help

I am trying to start development on a new custom dimension data / worldgen pack and am struggling to just load a custom world with the custom dimension, can someone explain what I need to do?

I have the pack with a sub folder in data entitled "beanstalk_isles" then in that is dimension type and a json file of the same name, coded by an online friend of mine. We tested, the worldgen works in the overworld as of 1.20.4 but 1.21.2 well I dont even know how I'd get a custom dimension to load. Please help,

I know the code could be flawed but I am not worried about that I just want to know if my inital setup is correct?

are dimension and dimension type still both needed though in 1.21.2?

I can never find the dimension files for the overworld when extracting the game assets, also thanks for the link!

It's very thorough. It may have some information you think you already know, and cover things you've already done, but you should still read through it all carefully as it may cover things in more detail than you've found elsewhere, or explain important caveats that aren't necessarily documented without knowing what to look for

If you go to the dimension generator, you can find the vanilla files via the Presets button in the top right
