Lock certain slots of a barrel for a custom GUI

I'm currently in the process of making a custom GUI, where the player puts items in. That works perfectly fine, but I dont want the player to put their items in the surrounding slots. How would I go about implementing that?

Spawn said item or re-give to the player
Clear said slot
