i have a sword 3d model that i want to replace the irons sword texture with. what to do?

knotty rover
#

put the model json file in assets/models/item/iron_sword.json

fickle hearth
#

what? the json file the model is in glb can i just convert it?

knotty rover
#

it has to be a special format for Minecraft models

fickle hearth
#

also when did json files become for textures and models i thought it was for text and stuff

knotty rover
#

so no not really

#

Minecraft models are stored in JSON

#

They use cubes

fickle hearth
#

is there a way to make the models json?

knotty rover
#

You can’t convert glb to the json format easily

#

But

If you can convert it to .obj there’s a cool trick you can use to render obj

fickle hearth
#

this the formats the model is availble in

#

also is there a site for free models for minecraft?

knotty rover
#

i don’t know of one, but probably

#

i gtg, if nobody answers you after like 20 minutes ping Helpers

#

but in short, unless you can convert it to obj, you can’t use any other formats

#

and that being said, the objMC shader I sent sometimes doesn’t work. It isn’t supported by Minecraft, it uses a weird workaround with shaders

#

but I’m sure if you figure it out it’ll work

#

good luck :)

#

and as I said, if you still need help feel free to ping Helpers since I’m going out
