Detect and place back blocks

Is there a way, to:

• replace a block under the player, and after 5 seconds, back place it to the block there was?

is that somehow not too hard possible ?

doing something after 5 seconds?

• have a marker count the time and execute at that position after 5 seconds
  storing the blocks?
• you could do it at bedrock?, since height 0 is (in normal worlds) always bedrock

this comes with some complications tho, since stacking blocks vertically is hard

• you can do also it in another dimension at the same position
