I won't debate the ethics of it, though. The fact that AI basically steals an artist's base art and makes it's new form on that input is completely unfair, and I understand that.

See, I'm with artists when they say that they hate AI since it DIRECTLY steals their art as input. Now that is unfair use. But they lose me when they say 'oh, it's stealing my job'. Here's the thing: I made it clear that it's unfair for AI to take input from an artist's hard work without their credit, knowledge or payment. But I'm not going to consider anyone who says AI stealing JOBS from artists and needs to be completely shut down. I don't agree with that. I believe that if there was a way companies found to make an engine that didn't rely on stolen art to make new pieces, then I think there will be no problem with AI.
