Given the game takes place in a savage land full of exiled survivors, currency isn't like coins or gold. You have these things called Scrolls Of Wisdom. You need these to identify (unlock/bind to your acc) loot that you pick up. 1 scroll for each item
Now the things is, they also server as currency to buy shit from merchants. So it's literally Metro. Do you use it for utility or do you use it for trade?
There's way more consumables (e.g. Up the rarity of a basic rarity item, add a new gear stat, reroll the entire item's gear stats etc) and they can all either be used as utility, or in shops
