As the title states, a constant on-screen indication of the equipped backpack module and its current fill level. Whether ferrying resources, using it as an ammo supply, or just tooling around collecting, I find it bothersome to keep opening the inventory to check how much flamer gasoline or electric charge I'm carrying, and inconvenient to dedicate a hotbar entry to it. Maybe another box appears when such a device is equipped, but otherwise acting like the hotbar visuals with a fill bar?
#Persistent "belt" slot for backpack equippables

Let me start by saying I agree that this would be very useful.
You can also put it in the action bar, which shows you fill level and gives you a consistent hotkey for the cable, I'm told. But it does take a tool out of easy access, and it doesn't free up your hotkeys for other things. (EG it won't stop using 'interact' for a cable plug when you just want to open a fortihold, just because you also have access to backback cables in the action bar.)
You can place the backpacks on the action bar, when on the action bar you can see the fill levels.
Open the equipment menu (RB on an Xbox Controller) then select the pack you want and press {Y} on the controller then select the action bar slot to place it on.
A thin white line at the bottom of the icon then displays the fill levels.
I can do screenshots if needed but it will be tomorrow (Saturday 28th) before I get the chance to.
No, that's what I'm getting at; suggesting that it shouldn't take up one of my 5-8 keys. The idea is to leave those hotbar slots alone for other gear. Like if I want to have my repairer, scrapper, spyglass, and flashlight all on there, I can't because one of them has to be the backpack to see what its fill level is.
