#Main Boat Storage Upgrade

If you increase how much you can put in a fortihold, it would become too heavy to pickup. I’ve seen this on my gave vs my son’s game. He hasn’t unlocked all the hydraulic enhancers yet, so he can only barely push a fortihold that’s full, but I’ve unlocked all 100, and I can pick it up and swing it around.
Instead of stacking containers, try building them in-place attached to the walls or ceiling in a grid.I've got space for 38 crates in the recycler/fab room, without having removed either one for space, and with the floor completely unused. (Other than the recycler and fab, of course.)
I just use the big flat bottom of the boat for fuel power and all other tank kept rescores i have 10 diesel tanks and 16 med batts for power and haven't used 1/4 of the space yet
Well, that's a little inconvenient for fortis, though it's also useful. Honestly, oil's a little painful to engage with at a large scale, so I mostly rely on bio, and that's better kept in a box than stored in tanks, I think.
Built myself a big old oil tanker, then realized there's no way to actually expand production with it.
The boat itself should have an internal storage area, just like it has electrical and fuel storage. Having to litter the place with 100 boxes is not good design
Even better: Modular upgrades -> Boat could have "slots" in which you decide what to upgrade (power, fuel, item storage, oil, gas). Or even better than better, the modules could be swapped out depending on need.
it would keep a clean deck to only have machines, instead of boxes over boxes over more boxes and tanks
If we could be able to dismantle the fabricator and recycler and move them, that would free up some space
you can dismantle both, what are you talking about ?
I made a neat grid of 30-odd boxes on the ceiling, plus some on a wall grid - I don't feel like it was disorderly, though I did still have to offload some of it to warehousing at Laz.
It was rewarding to me, to get it right, just like getting oil, diesel, and petrol storage to fit with enough Solar was rewarding. Having to do less optimization for a good build, to me, would feel like less game to play.
You can’t dismantle the ones inside the ship.
you are correct, not anymore. It was possible at some point
Shame, would really like to move them to the farther back room. I’d also love to be able to remove the wall shelving and desks that are in the back room too. Empty boat would make more room to build.
yeah... not sure why they are locked now, since they can be easily rebuilt with the same materials that results from grinding them
Probably to avoid letting newbies get into a position where they left as soon as they good, dismantled them to build something, and got their save into a state where they don't have a recycler and can't build one.
very likely, but that's on them... why punish everyone else the entire duration of the game ?
perhaps some kind of trigger condition, if you already left Dock37 you can scrap them, but as soon as you're inside you cannot
OR or... even better. You should have at least 1 of each on the boat. So, build another, then you're allowed to scrap the starter one
so a two-step move, first build in alternate location, then you can safely delete the old one. It's just required to have at least one on the boat at any time
They could make them dismantle-able once you learn the skills to rebuild them.
If you can count on them having the refined resources, I would just say slap a device in the corner that will build it with an interaction if it's gone, but I was thinking that it's possible to get in a situation where you DON'T have the resources to build it. You need the recycler to produce the ingots that make modules to replace the recycler.
The reason I think early-game safety is important is because people who break that are usually two people -- the people who are still deciding whether they like the game and streamers who always have half their attention on their chat.
