Not sure at what point this starts to happen but when I start a new game - the sound is perfect.
After a period of time playing the game (seems somewhere around 5-6 hours) the sound will start to drop out entirely 5-10 minutes after I load my save file.
This last 2-10 minutes then it comes back but is constantly flickering in and out with a periodicity of around 100 Hz.
I have played for over an hour after this starts happening and it never resolves itself, although a couple of times it has stabilised for 30 seconds - 1 minute but then just starts dropping in and out again as before.
#Weird intermittent sound drop outs

hi, may I ask, what is the seetings for your sound output in windows?
Hello, I use 24 bit and 48k through a digital output. I am a music producer and have tried to use the headphone output instead and all variations of bit depth from 16 to 24 bit and sample rates of 44.1 and 48k, nothing has helped.
I have also checked all of my audio drivers are up to date. I am currently grabbing the Windows audio logs once they have had a chance to gather some meaningful amount of data.
ok, sounds like you know what you're dealing with for checking things ๐ thats good! Yup, if you can find any issues, it could be a bug ingame
Very strange? Continuous audio event fires, cursory searches and reading the XML indicates audio system resets?
over my head ๐
The time stamps all line up with when I play The Last Caretaker and nothing else on my system is generating these logs.
but all just warnings instead of errors is good right
do you have a specialised audio card?
Well they are just information, so neither a warning nor an error. They seem to affirm what I am experiencing as each one appears to be a restart of the audio system, hence the constant drop outs. I use a Soundblaster on board chipset in this laptop, so commercial but not overly ubiquitous.
May I ask which game engine TLC uses?
I am guessing Unreal? I have probably seen the logo on the startup of the game and never really noticed xD
BTW thank you for your time and your help with my previous issue as well. I appreciate it greatly.
yup UE 5.7 iirc
my pleasure, player support is one of our top priorities ๐
Well, I am going to go away and do some more research as this does not seem to be a common issue. If my efforts come to anything I will let you know.
I have seen a couple of times the odd sfx not working as expected but nothing quite the same as this ๐
please feedback if you make any progress ๐
I am leaning toward a memory issue as the error only starts once I have collected and built a fairly substantial amount in game that and the way it works fine when the save loads then starts once I have been playing for a few minutes.
Going to do a live memory dump whilst the game is running and although I have some experience of dealing with these, I am by no means an expert in this are. If those dumps are of any use to anyone there, please let me know and I will send you a link to a file host with them.
you should be fine to drop them here unless theres sensitive info in them, in which case please send them to [email protected]

Just plodding around the Internet and found this
Sounds like what I am experiencing.
@sonic valve I have not forgotten about this - I have done several dumps and nothing stands out. I am currently trying to generate a coherent log from my audio system to see if that shines a light on anything.
have you tried the beta?
for update 02? maybe it solves the issue?
I cannot - I am using Epic ๐
That's OK - I think I am going to buy it again via Steam anyway - for the price I paid, I feel like I have stolen it xD Happy to pay again to support you guys, the game has already swallowed over 100 hours of my time.
yup, I dont think Epic even supports betas
I'd always say Steam for EA games for the best platform
@sonic valve Hey, I bought TLC on Steam, could you advise where I can find my save gaves from Epic, so I can back the up and try them in the Steam version, please?
No worries, I found the folder Voyage and copied it to a safe place before uninstalling / reinstalling. Apologies for bothering you on a Sunday - hope it's a good one for you.
So... when the Epic version usually loses audio, the Steam version just hard crashes. I have sent the error reports.
Apologies, long day - to be more clear:
The main release of TLC on Steam did exactly the same with the audio to start with then dropping out and then cutting in and out.
The Beta release started with sound and at the point the sound would usually disappear, the game crashed.
today, i had randomly no sound from tlc it was in fullscreen and had a music stream in the bg. restarted no change, restarted later again, sound back no changes.
Well, it seems it is no longer crashing when the audio drops happen but like @bold folio I now just get complete silence and at no point, after 2 hours of silence, does the audio come back.
