#boat size

I was just saying something along those lines in #general! Mebbe we could, at some point, find and repair a larger boat, and move all our stuff over to it.
More deck space would me great.
yea or a big cargo ship in which we can park our regular ship and when need to go on any location for dock we take out the regular one from the cargo
The current boat is a big too big for that sort of thing, but, perhaps the larger boat could have a small deployable tender.
but if the size or a boat will increase it will hit on watermines when docking
Okay, so you have to shoot the mines before you dock.
Tradeoff for having a bigger boat.
we can shoot the mines ?
i got killed 2 times, i guess i am doing in the wrong way
also i hit the mines with boat and sink in
๐
Shoot the mines from a safe distance.
That's where I got the thought from! Figured as there's no post for it I'll put one up...
I agree this is a very good idea
A smallish tender that can carry a few storage items and runs off petrol or electric maybe?
I was thinking petrol. Diesel/Elec for the big boat, petrol for the tender.
It would need to be big enough to get storage and an additional petrol tank though
But yes that makes sense
We're probably in territory where a separate suggestion thread is appropriate.
And yet, one somehow killed me
I lilke the idea, but what if, maybe instead of finding a bigger boat, but the idea of building one might be better, if we can choose how to expand it. Maybe adding new floors, or well, i dont know, but i do like this idea
That was part of the suggestion
Either finding a new boat... Or building it
Ahh, alright
My favored method would be to float a wreck to transport to a dry dock somewhere for rehabilitation.
Seems very ... involved. Why can't there just be a bigger boat docked at another shelter that you can take over. Make it far enough from the start that you don't get to it too quickly.
There's not a lot you can't get to from the start. We have electric engines and the map isn't THAT big.
Besides, involved is kinda the name of the game. Having more stuff to do == having more game.
Get a dive on, seal some hull breaches, transport power to restart water pumps, let displacement take over to float it, tow it to dock with the upcoming steel cables on the roadmap, and get your repair on.
It doesn't have to be a week of work, but our own boat is already a pretty significant powerhouse in terms of being able to carry a ton of production and tanks - you can do all your production and storage on deck, if you really want. An upgrade to that shouldn't just be 'find the site and turn the key.'
It could be progression locked behind one of those "you must be at level X" doors or something.
Yeah, but levels are pretty cheap. I was level 7 or 8 before taking the boat out, and 15 is where you get the highest security you can get from levels. Besides, it should at least be harder than Black Vein. You have to restore that site and that's just oil. This is more foundational. You should have to DO something for it. I don't like being able to radically alter something so fundamental is such an advantageous way just because you showed up, even if you do have to scrap three or four sites to show up.
If it's gonna be just an authorization, it's at least gotta be Moses (post-launch) authorization, and that would still be disappointingly easy.
You can also just jump on top of them and scrap them.
I like this idea
