#Profession requests from space?

So as I was chugging along the north sea to setup my diesel production (feeling like I was in an episode of Deadliest Catch in the rough seas) I though of an Idea :).

What if after the first or possibly more humans are sent to space, that when the pod comes back, there is a request for certain professions that they need? Fulfilling those requests possibly giving a slight incentivized reward?

Just a thought from a goal oriented individual. 🤪

Absolutely love the game and am excited for new content!

Agree. ATM there's little incentive to produce anything other than the simplest idiot to get the rocket to launch. Requests for specific types (or demands) would give you a goal.

I’m not a fan of creating people to fit predetermined roles.
So long as they are healthy, with a good life span, and good traits all round that should be all that matters.
When you send them off let them find their own identity.

I mean, if my Defender of Humanity quits their job to make youtube videos about zero G makeup tips, that's THEIR business. I just do the best I can for them.

They can be what they want after that.

It would be cool if we started throwing other things into orbit too..

Space habs, automated blocks that come together to assemble a generation ship..

It's an emergency survival scenario. Do or Die for the species, we can have goals of self-expression and individual fulfilment after we've saved the human race. Maslow's hierarchy.

Heck that'd be an amazing way to have the game change over time you get more requests for artists and dreamers and just "hey send more people we're pretty stable now".

Besides the premise is the pods are simulating a life for them, so if you don't put anything in then you're basically giving them a blank nothing of a life up to the point you put them in space.

"Okay, they sent us this guy, but . . . "
"But?"
"He's kinda . . . "
"Please use your words."
"A fricking moron. We gave him the orientation brocure and he licked it to see if he could eat it. And when the door didn't pull open, he tried lifting from the bottom."
"Aren't those doors labelled 'Push'?"
"I don't think he can read. Also, I'm pretty sure he's already dying of old age."

Perhaps we'll get game Achievements for supplying better humans but until then, they'll get dopes from me lol.

My goal is just to send up top-tier humans in my first launch. Which has significantly delayed my first launch in this game. Hopefully -- please, hopefully -- launches are not a 'lossy' process, and I'll get back at least as many memories, of similar tier, as I send up.

You still have enough memories to actually choose a profession? I'm dry on memories and have been sending regular joes to space.

timid breach
#

You do get memories back, right? Something someone said implied you get more, for more advanced humans.

#

But unfortunately, a save glitch ate a box of memories at Lazarus -- I haven't done the first launch, yet, and this kinda killed the plan to do T3 humans only.

Adding the recipe for creating various humans scattered across the map would be cool. A transmission from space saying that the recipe is located at so and so place. Create and send a doctor or something like it.

Huh. Even the garbage humans I made gave me back memories. Mostly the common stuff.

#

You checked all floors of the return pod? They go down quite a ways.

peak ether
#

Hm. Maybe I just am misremembering.

That, or a bug could be affecting you.

The bug is my memory.

It all turns out we aren't capable of installing any sentience/soul because ||that's left in the pink goo|| and all we're doing when we pick out food is adding flavor

mhm "this one needs a pinch of passion and creativity, because of.. reasons" 🤪
"the latest patch of scientists was.. very well received, how about finishing up with a nicely blubbery professor, as a treat?"

Wouldn't' it be cool if sending the best humans into space got you an NPC somewhere?

Sapiencey is a culmination of our brains experiences and processes. So ling as SOMTHING guides them into proper maturity the people we make WILL be sapient. What level of civilization were sending them off too ... who knows
