Details -
Just gets really REALLY hot. the temps will go from 60c to 85c then back down. I do want to say this computer was built for Video editing, the CPU will hit high % usage at a pretty regular. I don't see temps get beyond 80c very often unless it's been going at rendering a 8k video for a couple hours or more. i play a lot of cpu intensive games too, from Satisfactory, Microsoft flight sim. Nothing compares to this game.

I do want to say i have found a fix though

**Open the game, load or create a new game.
Open task manager(CTRL+SHIFT+ESC), go to Details, Locate the VoyageSteam-Win64-Shipping.exe.
Right Click and click "Set Affinity"
this part is up to you, choose how many of the processors you want running. I uncheck about 14 of the 28 there. Press "OK" **

Steps to reproduce -
Start the game and load in, doesn't mater if it's new game or older save.

System Specs -
OS - Windows 11
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700K, 3400 Mhz, 20 Core(s), 28 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 64.0 GB
Video Graphics Card - Geforce RTX 3060 Ti

Yes, it works. I always do that with many games. With 14 cores, it was 81 degrees, now with 7 cores it's 60 degrees.

a cpu shouldn't overheat regardless of its operation. poor quality cooling solution is probably the main cause here.

Well thats ..... just a hardware issue. And besides most cpus are built to go to 85c

#

Unless its ACTUALLY throttling your fine

Oh its a 147

Same problem. My CPU with water cooling try to fly away ๐Ÿ™‚

85C during gaming is to be expected. Heck, i7-14700K can see even higher temps, 95C or so and that is considered as normal as well.
My chip (R7 9800X3D) also peaks ~85C when i'm in the game and i have king of air coolers cooling it. Yet, i have 0 concern about my CPU temps.

Doc, i don't see those temps accept with this game, of my 1500ish games in steam. the 2 video renderer software. i don't see those temps. it's not OVERHEATING but it's literally the hottest game. ๐Ÿ˜„

Did you change your bios setting or something to be concerned with 80-85C on intel? The 14700k should be configured in the microcode to boost until 100C then throttle down. Did you at least turn off the E-cores and leave the P-cores active?

Yeah, my 9950x "idles" around 50-60C, so seeing 80-85C while gaming isn't an issue. It's the stupid Z-axis flaunt in the LGA Ryzens to make them compable with existing coolers. They made the heat spreader too thick so it would still have the same Z-height. I've seen people lap them thinner to get temps down or better yet, direct die cooling, but not worth the effort for me.
