Hear me out. Port these bad boys to 1.12.2:

  • EMF – CEM/entity models without selling your soul to OptiFine
  • ETF – random entity textures, also without OptiFine
  • Custom Skybox mod – pretty skies, still no OptiFine
  • Better zoom mod – because OptiFine zoom is apparently the only reason half of us still have it installed

ok so hear me out. none of these can really be "ported" they'd basically have to be written from scratch for 1.12.2 forge BUT they are all totally doable and someone has to do it eventually right. like imagine RLCraft with Celeritas and all of this. AND 10 BAJILLION FPS.

anyway yeah someone please do this i am begging

edit: also we would need a Lithium-style server tick optimization mod. because celeritas makes rendering go brrr but the moment you push past 12 render distance breaking blocks and hitting entities gets laggy af

i expect all of it done within a year or so 💀 and if nobody steps up i will literally just vibecode the whole thing myself with ai. and before you say anything, in one year ai will be good enough to do it so the clock is ticking

the mod is great thanks! when i said "a zoom mod that doesn't suck", idk if it's a 1.12 thing but sometimes when i zoom in with anything other than optifine's zoom the chunks outside the zoomed view just get cleared, and when you zoom back out they regenerate with a delay which is pretty immersion breaking. doesn't happen super often so it's bearable but still kinda annoying Optifine likely hooks directly into the chunk rendering pipeline which is probably why it doesn't suffer from that issue. It might be worth looking into integrating something similar into Celeritas to handle FOV changes without triggering chunk reloads.

ok im sorry guys i will probably take this post down tomorrow. its just too much going on in here and despite my best efforts you guys simply cannot stay professional for 5 minutes.

i am aware this post needs to be studied and dissected by historians in 2067 and more importantly psychologists, so screenshot and save everything while you still can.

i came to two conclusions:

  1. my name OFUsersEatGravel is not just for show. i know what you're thinking "dude that guy must be so hardcore" and to answer your question: yes. i eat my cereal with nails. not because its cool. i eat my cereal with nails because i like it. and apart from that i dont eat cereal. so my first conclusion is that we ALL have to mine gravel until we get 1 flint per session before logging off using optifine, to honor this tradition. from the 3rd of april 2026 onward every member of the 1.12 coalition should swear to this.

  2. i dont actually need a vulkan RTX AI slop render engine. what i need is just a skybox mod. but maybe the greatest skybox mod that has ever existed. full custom skyboxes per dimension, more features than optifine, full compatibility with modded dimensions, and ideally compatibility with Hysteria (the mod that adds lunar events and stuff like that). customize the entire sky. every dimension. imagine.

anyway thats it. -67 IQ cheers everybody. im glad when at least 1 PROFESSIONAL modder stumbles across these magnificent ideas someday 🪨
