Hey all! Seems like my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is on its way out of this world. In need of some recommendations for a new one. Would like to stay under $400 if possible.

I don't really have any outboard gear to work with, so I/O beyond having at least one input and stereo out isn't really required. I do stream DJ sets from time to time, so having 4 inputs would be great but it's by no means a necessity.

If anyone has an interface that they love using, please drop em below!

If you have the opportunity to view the devices in the store live, you can also watch the Universal Audio "Volt" series for the sake of interest, you may be interested

Legend, thank you so much for the recommendations! I've considered dipping my toes into the world of UA plugins, but I'm not sure if it's worth the premium of the UAD hardware. What say you? My workflow is quite simple, and I haven't wanted for anything new in my suite of plugins, but maybe I just don't know what i'm missing. I'm not opposed to going over my budget if it's an obvious win.

Well, in that case, look at Audient.

I do not know how things are with UAD now, but when I bought my UAD Arrow audio card, I was given an auto-tuner from Antares + a standard set of plug-ins was included in the kit (outdated version). I very rarely use these plugins ahah.

The nuance is to use plug-ins from UAD in full power - you need to look at devices with a higher class (Twin Duo, Twin Quad) + spend money on these plug-ins in fact. The plugins themselves are not the cheapest, to be honest. Just if you take some example of a Distressor plugin or Culture Vulture - a single-core DSP processor on Apollo Solo will start to get very nervous haha.

I use my card (UAD Arrow) to record an analog synthesizer + sometimes I pass my microphone through it for streaming.

If you don't plan on doing such things and you just need to use it as an audio device for playback - Audient is a very good option and you will see a huge difference between Focusrite. You can watch comparisons with other models on YouTube for the sake of interest. + the difference in the price range between UAD and Audient is significant

But I warn you right away - this is my strictly subjective opinion
