#Shred to Earn weekly ETH contest

Inspired by The Nouns Square from @minor charm and co, I'm proposing weekly ETH contests for artists athletes.

Over a 12 week trial, we'd prompt skaters, boarders, riders (all extreme sports) to share their most creative (and Extremely nounish.shademark) tricks.

Each week a guest judge from Team Gnars would help promote and choose winners based on creativity and flair.

It's a loose proof of concept for a global expression session hosted atop hashtags across various social media.

0.5 ETH per week:

  • 🥇 0.25 Ξ
  • 🥈 0.15 Ξ
  • 🥉 0.1 Ξ

Total: 6 ETH

The goal is to crowdsource new talent and eventually have an ongoing stream of shredders learning about our community.

Proposal has been created on Snapshot, currently trying to get notifications bot working properly so won't have to do these manually in future.

Instead of a guest judge why don't we do this via community voting or something? I know it's hard to filter bot accounts and it's way easier to just ask one person to choose the winner but some people may think the results are not that fair.

For example, winner of this Shred to Earn is Dave's friend as I read in the #1014149626586210314 proposal so someone might be like "wtf, he gave the ETH to his homie". Don't get me wrong, Fakie Hard Late Shuv was sick and definitely deserved podium but better think this through before you vote "FOR" in this proposal.

Just my 2 cents guys 😄

Actually, if anyone was interested in putting together a plan for this, I'd be stoked to get some help, bit overstretched atm, keen to hand over more stuff as this week comes to a close. hehe

I'm here to help as I told you, if you want I can do that. I really like what you guys doing and trying to help as much as I can, I;m not saying Dave chose his homie, no way dude, trick was sick. Just trying to eliminate all possible negative situations

It's hard to deal with all those scammers man, I feel you. Contest worked really well in my opinion but could be better moving forward!

Hey guys, I am all in for these type of contests but some things must be taken care of before starting this initiative so no ETH goes to waste

  1. Verifications of participants (very important)
  2. Universal sessions are cool but I as a skateboarder can't judge how hard and creative a BMX or surf trick is. Maybe community voting is the way to go
  3. Universal sessions are cool but whether we like it or not there's hate between some sports like skate-scooter. This could affect judges opinion so again, I think community voting is better
  4. Twitter is cool for promoting crypto projects to potential investors but IG is the no1 platform for extreme sports right now, at least for skateboarding so maybe we should focus more on IG than Twitter for the "Shred to Earn" contest

cross platform contest could be a good idea to cross pollinate the community. Get some twitter people over and checking insta and vice versa.

I beleive ultimately we are going to have to build or get a custome tool to solve this unique challenge esp those listed here.. but i also believe small amounts of ETH go a long way.

Dedicating 6ETH to these prizes gets extreme ethletes engaged. We can evaluate after this round. I jst feel if we count it as a marketing cost! We can then have that content created as cc0.

As for IG: tbh, i left IG for tiktok, i feel extreme Sports is actually big on IG.

Maybe we should ask the athletes to give us great content so as to win the contest?

I’m actually going to fork prop house when v2 is open sourced.
Already got the plans for coordinoun teams and coordinoun contests.
The contest platform will be for this specifically, allowing communities to setup contests with fair and transparent entries and voting.

Asking for a weekly or bi weekly mini edit for social media from sponsored athletes is a great idea and will raise traffic for sure.

That's the way to go in my opinion and that's how social algorithm works. The more active you are the bigger the audience you reach
