The first half of season one can do with rares only. It's the shadows/endgame when suddenly it counts how deep is your hero pool, and especially defensive support like Garika can be worth gold then.

I recently did a lot of testing after I got Nastjenka, the obvious answer was that she'd replace my Vani in my dauntless comp, but in my testing yes, I found Schaltar was much more valuable than Shagrol for a dauntless composition, mostly because he provides more synergy while Shagrol is more selfishly constructed.

How you'd build Shaltar?

Nothing special, I was trying them out without any gear and swapping their gearsets and stuff. One tricky thing about the damage meters at the end of a fight, is that both schaltar and nastjenka's ults, which buff other heroes to do on-hit damage, count toward their own damage. Still I rotated every hero in and out and got multiple samples, and Schaltar was always more impactful for total team damage than Shagrol. The main finding which I was looking for though was that Vani was understandably the worst of them, being 'just a rare' but she was pretty close in damage to Shagrol (granted at the time Vani was skilled up while Shagrol wasn't) while providing more synergistic help to other heroes with her ult buff. So Vani was the one I replaced with Nastjenka for my triple dauntless dps team.

Once I got to that conclusion though, Schaltar is the one I put the most value on enlightenment for, while building Shagrol more greedily for atk+ crit+ and skill haste

There's only 6 legendaries so you may have just not picked a single option that applied to any legendaries. You definitely get a legendary for rolling a 20, but I think if you picked something like an element for example that could actually apply to one of the six available legendaries, you'd get that particular one.

Hm.. I don't know. I feel like the roll is pre-determined, and IF it happens to match with what you chose as the option, it lights up, otherwise it fades. I don't think that has any impact.

It is not what I see. If you choose just single label then the hero you summon has that label 70-80% of time (barring situations where there is no heroes with that label in given rarity pool). So label has no effect on what rarity you get but looks like it has effect on what you get within rarity.

Depends on your epics, I would say though that Dorkuraz and Horrus are quite valuable epics. What rare did you have in mind that's "your style?"

Also in general I would say it probably is better to take a bad epic over a good rare unless you already have a specific team comp in mind and somehow know what the starter heroes are gonna be in S1 (they changed a little bit between CBT1 and CBT2 so they might change a little bit again)

Because when you start getting duplicate heroes, a duplicate bad epic will give you a resource that lets you buy epic tier artifacts, while a duplicate good rare will give you a resource that only lets you buy rare tier artifacts. This is also the same reason I'd suggest taking a bad legendary (Talwer) over an amazing epic (Voresh)

(Summon) heroes were quite powerful in CBT1, specifically Sharlacen (now called Sharlach) was considered the de-facto best single hero in the game. Between CBT1 and CBT2, (Summon) heroes have been drastically nerfed, Sharlacen (or his derpy little brother Sharlach) especially, and as such I can't really recommend any (Summon) teams or builds.

They might rebuff it a little after seeing how basically nobody at all actually stuck with using Summon Heroes in CBT2, but as far as we know, currently, they suck.

Well hypothetically, if you really do get to start with Errich from pre-registration, and Horrus on day 3, and Heksandra as a starter hero (she has been in the starter hero lineup CBT1 and CBT2) then you can put really just about any fire/poison in the main team as your fifth. You'd probably start with just using the Main Character in fire mode, but would ideally be able to get Felicity (legendary) or Tonalnan (Epic) or Nedda (Rare) to fill the 5th spot in your team for more (Wild) synergy.

If you're just lucky in the first place, his ultimate basically doesn't do anything, it's just a completely wasted cooldown.

Granted it probably will have a real and tangible benefit at least 99% of the time, but it doesn't do any damage.

And it's been my experience that heroes who are built too much with a focus of "synergy" often fail to actually do enough damage themselves that you'd be better off with just some stronger hero who lacks synergy.

Errich and Felicity are already not very synergistic with "wild" tbh, so they kinda don't need another wild hero in the mix, but if you have a GOOD wild hero in the mix, who DOES have good synergy too (like Tonalnan or especially Flora) then that increases the value of your Errich and Felicity.

Felicity's main thing is that she's a bit of a machine gun. You build her with crit, she recharges energy faster, and every time she fires her battle skill she's got an increasing (to a cap) chance to basically fire an extra battle skill. Errich is just an accelerant, increasing his wild procs based on how many wild procs there were. When you have Flora, Errich and Felicity are basically mostly just fuel for Flora's dragon.

Well a lot of times a hero might be some special subtype like summon or dauntless or wild or rally but that doesn't mean they're the heroes of that subtype that really synergize great with other heroes of that subtype. Some are just built a bit more selfishly while others get or give greater benefits by being in a team with more of those subtypes of heroes.

Like Shagrol is a pretty good Dauntless hero but he doesn't really bring much to the Dauntless table in the cafeteria at lunch, he's counting on the more synergistic Dauntless heroes like Schaltar to buff him up.

That's how Felicity kinda is. She's not getting any benefit herself from being in a team of other wild heroes, but if you have other wild heroes that get benefits from her wild procs, then she's contributing more to overall team dps in a less direct way.

I would not exactly agree to that. Shaggy brings speed (both to himself and team) for example to let Ivelios proc more his passive. Shaltar on the other hand don't exactly buff anyone as his buffs are counted as damage done by him (and are based on his Attack stat).

You're not wrong, but then there's Nast who brings an atk% aura instead. Attack speed is a slight trap to a dauntless comp, because while they do benefit from it, generally their battle/ultimate skills also "count as" basic attacks so you're actually way better off stacking skill haste over attack speed, and skill haste effectively LOWERS your effective attack rate per minute since basic attacks can be interrupted by battle and ultimate skills.

Plus attack speed breakpoints, like you can stack up some attack speed and not even get any actual benefit because you went from 3.1 (3) basic attacks between battle skills to 3.9 (still 3) basic attacks between battle skills.

I tried horseshoe but for me a chalice was giving better damage, probably thanks to that +20 cr bonus on ult. Constant +45% speed beats conditional +50% I guess. And I rarely use acc on Auster since I have Hochadir.

I don't have hochadir but even if I did I'd put the accuracy on auster not hochadir, because auster, dorkuraz, and hvitar seem the best for keeping frost debuff constantly applied (assuming they have the accuracy) while hochadir just being on the team passively helps them do it.

It depends on fight. On Vortex Hochy is all you need to keep frost all time, but in battles against multiple opponents he's obviously limited by his range so there I did use it on Auster but not high amount. Thanks to Hochadir and Auster speed I would need to fail 10 rolls in row to lose frost on opponent.

Hvitar, Hochadir, Auster though is my dream trio for frost. Hvitar applies the frost right from the start with a passive to the whole team, Auster immediately starts blasting people with his passive to charge his ult up fast, Hochadir's extension of Hvitar's passive and ultimate frost applications probably lets her permanently keep it on the whole map

Dorkuraz on his own might be worse than Questa or Martina but he's really helpful for (frost) compositions

General logic is to choose a legendary, because they're harder to get, and getting a dupe legendary means a legendary currency with which you can use to buy legendary artifacts (very good).

Most people agree that Felicity is the best legendary, but even if you get Talwer (considered the worst of the pool), it's still a legendary. In an advanced summon, pull rate is 3% legendary, 17% epic, 80% rare, 0% common. Common summon is 3% epic, 20% rare, 77% common.

horrus is a free hero at 3rd day login on cbt2(season0), judging by the recent test servers, it might be the same free hero reward on the 3rd day login. I don't like Fihrah, she seems weak dps wise.
Questa is a strong backline jumper.
So i would probably go with Questa as your free hero.

Hegio is a decent rally-DPS but a melee, (melee dps tend to die a lot if you dont have a good healer or tank, and Rally heroes are stronger on a rally lineup).
Iola is a good range-DPS-debuffer(she can stun, silence, and put attack down in an area)
Sifris is a great healer when paired with other sub-healer(she sacrifice her life to heal/use ultimate, so without a sub-healer, she will die especially on long fights)
Eches is a very situational debuffer/debuff remover(kinda good in some dungeons).

Medulla, properly geared is a one woman self healing team saving killing machine. I group her with a heavy melee tank to distract strikers and jump her around getting instant kills.

She works especially well with AOE stunners since you can more readily get her out of massive melee enemies 😏. She's the most flexible glass cannon I have at present.

Dallbam is a good tank for your Ice team, few points below Horrus.

Always take the legendary. The reason is the pity vs resources is pretty bad, and you need a duplicate legendary to get permanant relics that carry over through each reset

Legendaries also can be ascended, and epics cannot. So when you eventually pull the epic naturally, thats the most youll ever use for them

I'd pick between these. its a matter of who you prefer tbh since what i will be listing are good-decent epic, ill ignore the rest:

Iola - a strong range-aoe dps, disabler(silence and stun), debuffer(attack penalty)
Dorkuraz - A strong range-aoe dps, good Frost applier
Questa - Strong melee dps, a backline jumper, can steal Ultimate Energy, debuffer(attack penalty), can work as a healer(applies Recovery over time upon killing a unit)
Elvis - (new for season 1) could potentially work as a DPS-tank, we cant say for sure how good he will be.

Caraman skill set is about killing backline enemies, so he might be good on pvp. for pve, he mostly have single target skill that doesnt offer any utility.

Dallbam on the otherhand is a tank, that do his job decently, he's also good in pvp, as long as the enemies doesnt have the whole battlefield skills(damaging your backlines) or any jumper.

Then as far as i know, you need to reinstall the app then. To reroll, you login with the "quick login" option, then use every horn available for that "guest" account (6 rolls including the code redeem, 8 if you pull an epic). If you get a good roll, then bind it to one of the 3 platforms available, if not reroll by deleting and reinstalling the app, rinse and repeat.

Nimbus on the other hand is a Dauntless unit, range-dps, but more on single target attack.

Altho Wusa/Usha is a also a strong dps, she is rare, and its quite easy getting rare heroes in your playthru. Always go for a more-rare hero with the pre-gift event.

Iola is a good lightning dps, shes strong if geared right, kinda like an upgrade of the Rare Irina.
a f2p guy use her to finish lvl30 trials.

Pargu was a really strong Single Target-DPS before the pre-nerf(pre-fix), but then again his debuff is too random, and you apply 'Frozen', you might dislike the Frozen debuff status because the target then takes less damage. Most players shelfed him after the patch that fixed his skills(they said it was dealing more damage than intended)
