\ (speaking as a peer and not as a mod) imo the thing with casting is actors from marginalized backgrounds being pushed out because people prioritize white/cis actors. if you can't find someone who is from (X background) for (Y character) and have to go with someone else, i think it's probably fine
\ because in that case there is no person that is unfairly being dismissed
\ & because this is a fan project, you might not necessarily have as much freedom because it entirely depends on finding people to apply, and isat has a large script so it's not like. an undertaking a friend can do in a single afternoon. i think, generally, people will be understanding of those constraints

for the record, the large audition window is deliberate. i need that time to be able to set up some things to make production easier
i plan to finish all the scripting for SASASAP, and at least a good chunk of the scripting for the main game by the time auditions are closed
part of the scripting process is also deciding what order to show events. i want to cover as much as i can, and i want to show it in a way that feels sensible.
i also want to have organic feeling reasons to loop back to dormont, because i want to be able to show every loop chat

a thing im tempted to do is, for repeated text that can't be skipped, reuse the same takes for everyone EXCEPT siffrin, who will have a slightly different take each time because he is literally saying it differently each time from his own perspective.
is this maybe a bit self indulgent? yes. does this actually make that big a difference? probably not. do i care? also no
honestly a big part of why i took siffrin for myself is not only Because I Want To Play Them but also because it logistically makes a few things easier since it doesn't require coordinating with a second person

so when planning out the order i want to show things, i run into a fairly major issue.
that is, i get through everything in too few loops.
i want to show every loop chat, including the dagger scenes, but there simply isn't enough natural feeling moments to loop back to dormont or loop to tears to trigger that without just. repeatedly looping for no reason, which feels like would break immersion
i have no idea what to do about this

Perhaps make it that everytime Siffrin dies, instead of looping back in the House, he just loops back to Dormont? At least in the beginning, idk. That way he can see Loop everytime he dies and so they can speak together?

maybe. but you're forced to loop back to floor 1 after dying to the tear on loop 1 (which you will always die to, either intentionally or bonnie accidentally pushing you into it)
but yea i did the math and. we find natural reasons to go back to dormont 14 times.
first time is on loop 1
second time is grabbing the storage room code
third time to do the stylish quest
fourth time to do castle quest
fifth time is forced from dying to the king
6th time is forced from talking to HHM
7th time after getting everything for the friendquests (which can be done on a single loop, if you ignore the death from eating the pineapple, since i want to show the "bonnie likes pineapple" thing after the "find bonnies food" thing shows up)
8th time is after finishing the family route
9th time after talking to king and beating him for that quest.
10th time is after getting looped back for the "Say it" moment
11th time is after getting betrayed and ending act 3
12th time is when we have to talk to loop after finding out about wishcraft
13th time is after doing the sus quest
14th time is required before ending act 4
idk maybe we could shoehorn in more but. idk
i do plan to reset to ensure specific conversations so that we can make sure we get all the missable convos before they're out. and we do have enough loops to get all of them. but still
i will say, sus quest does kind of fit in weirdly. i want to show it but it does sort of break the flow of things because theres no reason for siffrin to be doing that in character
and i've been trying to like. roleplay as siffrin, when planning out what to show. if that makes sense

i would say go for it regardless. i got my start for auditioning for a project with 0 prior experience and got the part, which allowed me to hone my skills further.
even if you don't get the part, i think it is worth it to have given it a shot a least.
for figuring out which character fits your voice, id say just sort of feel it out? try multiple characters and see which one you feel fits best.
i need to audition for more things but i like to audition for lots of roles just because if i cast a wide net im more likely to get a part.
all that said i will say im nowhere near professional. i feel like my skill is pretty decent, and confident enough that i will be able to do siffrin justice, but im nowhere near professional level.
this is just my own experience as a hobbyist actor who enjoys doing things
that was a lot of bullshit typing to basically say to go for it. worst case scenario you just don't get the part and thats fine

i personally recommend just doing the lines in an AABBCC format (that means doing each line twice before going to the next one), with any additional info necessary being included in the text box below. but you can technically do whatever. just like, be reasonable about it.
in retrospect I probably should have included that info on the actual ccc page

this is my first experience as a project lead so i am slightly nervous about things
and uh, for people who want to audition for minor npcs, i will likely open those in a week or two.
they won't be through ccc, its just gonna have a google doc with the audition info and you can send in submissions to probably a google drive or something.
its gonna be less fancy because while i think its really important to nail down the main cast, the minor npcs don't have a ton of depth so its fine to be less discerning about them imo

Maybe having a run where Siffrin is a bit out of it and doesn't really care about what they're doing. They're checking the books out of habit, etc etc, and it sorts of cumulates (?) their mistakes/weird points, until the end, where Odile confronts him?
That way it'll fit pretty well for act four, since he starts to become really tired of the loops and he is only acting and doing things out of habit?

another project I'm involved with has had a hiatus going for almost a year and I don't want to have to deal with similar delays. somehow the project is still going despite all that but I don't want to have to risk that for this project
and I fear that big delays may reflect poorly on me as a project manager, especially if they are directly my responsibility
at the current stage of production, no one other than me is working on this. so any delays are entirely my own causing. and I know that being sick is not something I could control but I want to be able to come across as responsible and able to manage things

For the Loop chats, I have a suggestion, you could have a chat, re-loop within Dormont using the Plantain, have another chat, and edit the video so it loos like the option to have another chat was already here? (When you go back to the menu, cut the moment when it's completely grayed out, and instead put there the start of the new conversation as if it was available to chat again from the start), I hope it makes sense
Also I'd looove to participate (like for Loop or something, I love their lines) but I am on HRT and my voice will drop in the following... idk, 2-4 months probably since it's been 4 months already? So my voice when the project will be done will be way deeper than what it is right now. That might be a deal breaker and I totally get that

im still torn on what pronounciation we should be going for for siffrin. i personally tend to go for the way most people say it (siff-rin with a short "i") but i wonder if we should be going with the french pronounciation sincce that might be more correct
but also that might be a bit jarring considering everyones speaking english
maybe i could do the tolkein thing and be like "this is being translated from fantasy french to english" as an excuse to use the common pronounciation
also means i dont have to be as careful with accents, because i know the coin flashback mentions everyones different accents, and i dont think it matters enough to try and make sure the accents are different when casting, especially because im just going to be speaking in my regular accent, which is american english, and factoring that in so that like. one scene makes slightly more sense would be way too much of a hassle for a free passion project

the variance in audio levels. i'll be listening to one audition thats very quiet and turn my audio up to hear it, and then go to the next one and get my ears obliterated by a very loud audition
