You’re probably here due to the very recent alchemist nerfs

Now I won’t deny it, but I am an alchemist main (ok, ok, throw your tomatoes at me,) BUT… we can all agree this update did gut alchemist pretty hard. Specifically Alchemist mastery.

— If you haven’t been keeping up, essentially, what happened was Alchemist’s potion cap was removed, at the cost of you unable to stack your potions. Also, for some reason, brewing a potion of the same type now combines it.
These changes have effectively turned alch from a stacking powerhouse to more of a utility cycling ability. Even as someone who mains alchemist, I wouldn’t have minded deleting the ability to stack potions if only they didn’t make one more change.

This has to be the most nonsensical change they made for alchemist. No matter the amount of same potions made, they’ll all be combined into one. Along with the no-stacking nerf, this literally does nothing good for alchemist, because neither the duration nor effects will stack. You’ve basically just wasted a brew.

(I might close this post, because the issue I was addressing seems to be fixed now.)

I have 2 1 proposal, so bear with me here.

~~## 1:
— Let us actually use the amount of potions that were combined.
• Essentially, let’s say you combined 2 speed potions. Once u use it, you use up 1 potion, so now it’s just one Speed Potion. If you dont brew the same potion, you’ll use it and it’ll be gone.

• Give it a cap and duration. Make it so you can only combine a certain amount of the same potions into one with there being only one combined potion of the same type (a bit like unmastered alchemist where you can only brew 2 speed potions, etc.). ALSO, give a short cooldown to the specific combined potion after your current potion duration (of the same type) ends so you can’t continuously have the potion effect active.
(It can also be a QoL change for alch too)~~

2:

— Make it so for every extra potion combined for a type, it only slightly increases the duration and effect (I’ll say +15-20% of the original effect and +1 second of duration). Even if you stack 5 of the same potion it would only be 75-100% stronger (compared to +100% PER potion before). Plus, it would take you a minute and a half to 2+ minutes to even get that much, also given you don’t use the potions within that timeframe. Trying to combine more wouldn’t be any more worth it either.
• This change would slightly negate the death of infinite scaling but be a much weaker version of it. It’s also more tame compared to my first proposal. If you wanna keep the no-stacking, then make it only increase the duration.

About the “buff” on being able to use over 5 potions without a cap…
• No one is really using 6+ potions all at once. Especially now with potions being combined, there are only so many potions you can use, with just a select few you want to use with other type potions. This is a minor buff for those very specific scenarios. Also, your brewing cooldown is LONG (E 16s, Q 20s), so what happens when you get no value because you didn’t take down anyone in the time you had all your potion effects active?

Alchemist is an ability that’s really hard to balance, but this is what I’ve got (for now.)

Alchemist mastery is only strong when you let it stack potions
and even when that happens it's only for like couple of seconds

I swear we're just having everything fun nerfed till the game wont be fun anymore -_-

Also be ready for unstopable dos players now

OH! OH! I HAVE A THRID PROPOSAL!
— Keep all the changes, but decrease Alchemist Mastery’s Q cooldown to its intended time.
I’m not sure if anyone else has said this, but in the wiki, it says both E and Q ability cooldowns are 15 seconds. That is NOT the case. Q’s cooldown is the same as unmastered alchemist’s cooldown, which is 20 seconds. It’s been like this for over a year now— yes, it still hasn’t been fixed. Either fix the wiki or fix the ability.
