Having the ability to respawn in a battle royale should be viewed a reward and not a privilege. It is important that losing a fight but getting away is still a major disadvantage to the player/players who didnt die in the fight, but I also think having the opportunity to revive adds an important feature that makes battle royale games more fun to play and more competitive. The current system of a 25 second cooldown and losing 1 random item enables, and somewhat encourages, players to just int their brains out as long as they have a teammate who can run away, and the downside to dying is not nearly enough punishment for the fact that they lost a fight. I believe the old system was really well done and balanced and it should just be reverted, but if you plan on keeping the auto revive feature it needs to be reworked in a way where it puts you at a major disadvantage. Something like a 60 second auto revive timer and you lose all your items instead of just one. Nobody should ever say "just run away and wait for me to respawn" the downside needs to be so incredible that there is still an incentive to using the altars or an incentive to just try to win the 1v2.

i agree. there needs to be some stakes to getting your teammate back, and there needs to be a tangible detriment to dying

about the old system being "really well done"... well ghosts were a mess of their own, with ghost revives, cranes, drones and whatnot. very nasty. quite happy the new patch got rid of those. i do think losing more items could be beneficial since rn most items just get lost when a team gets wiped. the only real issue i see is that it would be theoretically possible - and highly rewarding - for the two final teams to handshake kill one member of the opponent team and let them rez so as to increase mmr payout.

u were able to apply immense pressure to the enemy team forcing an opponent to spend 3 seconds or so incapacitated to execute you, and if sth other than zone deals damage to them during that time its interrupted

I am really happy they got rid of downed mechanic, ghosts & reviving. It completely messed up the pacing, clarity, end game & viewer experience.

Introducing respawning instead seems okay. Glad they are at least trying something new. I would make damage delay respawns. Like 1 damage = 1 ms delay so 1000 damage = 1s delay etc.

Loot explosions when you killed people were fun. I agree kills should feel more rewarding. Dropping one item isn't super interesting.

what if you had to "pick up" the wisps and holding onto them for X seconds revives them, requires you to take a risk to res your team while also allowing the alive teammates to have agency and not be locked out in a res animation
