I built a new powerful gaming PC, but now with the new PC, when I want to join someone, the game just won’t let me do it, I try to connect to everyone, but the game doesn’t connect to the lobby, or it just crashes

@timber marsh . I would advice you to not use gillian downgrader because you would have problems like crashing mid game or crashing when the host create or reset a match instead use Clonks downgrader offline v1.7 dont use the online version because it does not work

. before downgrading make sure to have clean steam files

and move the files to another folder named as you like like for an exemple "gta 4 gfwl" and you can be created at any place but dont put it inside steam main folder or steam will going to verify the files which causes steam deleting and modifying files

. for me i do this and i put gta 4 steam clean files from steam main folder of gta 4: the complete edition to gta 4 gfwl folder that i make to remove any steam related problems

. after installing clonks downgrader offline v1.7 which its 1.5gb, unzip it and run the exe file as administrator

. check configure

. skip radio downgrading because its useless

Dont check anything and let it like this default

. Downgrade step is over now, skip the commandline and don't launch the game yet and we complete the downgrade using clonks app

. Now we will setup dxvk which is important step for new gpus to improve fps, latency and performance. Before installing make sure your nvidia, intel or amd gpu drivers are up to date

After downloading, unzip the archive and navigate to dxvk-x.x\x32.
Extract d3d9.dll into the game folder. -well if you want to question "Why x32? My system is 64-bit"
Your system is irrelevant in this case. The game itself is designed to use 32-bit libraries, not 64-bit ones.
In simpler words, the game will not use the files from the x64 folder.

. About the async patch :
DXVK, from version 2.0 onwards, implemented Graphics Pipeline Library support, which, in the context of GTA IV, completely eliminates shader building stutter given the GPL and Fast Linking support from the GPU.
If using a modern GPU, those features should be there, and if you have no frequent stutter - it is there. If you do, however, experience frequent stutter on this version, check if your drivers are up-to-date, and if they are, use the dxvk-gplasync fork to reduce stutter. this information from https://gillian-guide.github.io/optimization/

. if you want to enable async patch (some people who has newer gpus may make their game more smoother but if you felt the game getting more laggy just remove the file)

download this file and drop it to the main folder to enable async patch

. Now its commandline setup time

go to the main gfwl folder and create a file named "commandline.txt"

open it by any file editor app like windows notepad

and put these

-norestrictions
-nomemrestrict
-windowed
-availablevidmem 11264

. Replace the value of -availablevidmem with your VRAM value in MBs like for an exemple since Im using gtx 1080 ti which it has only 11gb vram, Im going to put the value "11264"

. Dont forget to launch game via "PlayGTAIV.exe" file and make sure to have Xbox app, if its not installed just download it from the microsoft store and make sure to login on it with the same account used for gfwl

well I hope this helps and please dont install fusionfix because its for singleplayer only and not meant to be played at gfwl multiplayer version or it will going to make you have issues like a lot of freezing and crashes mid game
