First time posting a DM Vod in here. Been stagnant in my rank so i'm re-evaluating my mechs to see what needs the most urgent work.

Confirmed that i can still hit the gold routine benchmarks, and my hygiene felt good in my DM games today, so wanted to seek outside opinions on what i should work on next. Also, i feel like i particularly suck at deathmatch in terms of understanding spawns etc, so any tips on doing better in dm itself would be appreciated.

0:30 remember when you peek an angle that if you miss the angle, you should quickly try and adjust your crosshair to where it should be first, then start clearing other angles. It helps build muscle memory of how to peek properly, as well as allows you to do better even if your crosshair is off.
0:42 same thing, you're not putting your crosshair where it should be.
0:54 Why are you wiggling back and forth here so much, and why is your crosshair moving so far back and forth from the angle? If you're moving back and forth like that your crosshair should be a consistent distance from the angle. If you want to push the angle the trick is to move diagonally towards the angle, as you'll be unswinging the angle while moving towards it so you can peek it.
1:12 same thing your crosshair is moving back and forth very far from the angle.
1:17 When you peek heaven you swing before your crosshair is where it's supposed to be.
1:32 When you clear these angle it's all over the place, first you clear right arch without clearing bench, then left arch, then go back to bench, then left arch then bench then left arch, then top mid but not properly, then the opposite side of bench, and you finally die to a guy market. You're overthinking this, just put your crosshair in the likely spots for an enemy to be.

2:00 it takes you 35 frames to start moving your crosshair towards Sova. Not sure what's going on there, but you need to be ready for opponents to be around any corner.
I also notice that you tend to dedy swing every sub angle, but in doing so you end up swinging past enemies a lot. If you have angle equal or advantage, you just need to shift walk it and be ready for an enemy.
2:14 once again you stick your crosshair in the wall several times.

#

biggest things im noticing is that you don't know when to shift walk vs dedy peek, and your crosshair is pretty floaty, it should be glued on the angle you're holding.

#

I'd also add that it feels like a lot of the time you're shooting a bit too soon and not microcorrecting onto their heads, just shooting when you're kinda close.

thank you so much for taking a look at the vod

#

gonna watch it back with ur notes to see the parts you point out

#

Where is the crosshair supposed to be on the 0:42 peek? That’s how I’d usually peek that one

your CT peek looked fine.

ty for clarifying

topaz axle
#

specifically the floaty crosshair and shift peeking/dedi peeking

#

it feels really overwhelming when i think about them in dm

pastel wolf
#

If you're equal/further than an opponent could be, you want to shift walk.

#

if you're closer, then you have to do swings.

#

it's part of the reason you get caught out by the Sova, you're doing a dedi peek when you can shift walk it.

#

i see

#

i would probably wanna practice them separately right

if you move left, you move your crosshair right, and vise versa.

topaz axle
#

right

pastel wolf
#

it doesn't have to be perfect but you want to stay in the range where if someone peeks your crosshair is about where their head would be.

#

remember not to hold too close to the angle, as people will usually peek a bit further due to reaction times & non-perfect peeks

pastel wolf
#

if it's good, you can move on to clear the next angle.

#

if it's bad, you correct until it's good, then go to the next angle.

topaz axle
#

Is it okay if i do this really slowly while i practice

#

And then try to speed up over time

pastel wolf
#

you may even want to walk around in a custom practicing it until you feel okay at it, then move back to deathmatch, though if you just want to continue in dm that's fine too.

topaz axle
#

Makes sense yea

#

Would you say it’s correct to move with shift as default and then fast peek for specific angles

#

Bc i think my crosshair is really floaty bc i try to fast move all the time (mostly bc in deathmatch to score high you do have to move fast, its just that i shouldn’t do that when practicing peeks)

pastel wolf
#

that's true of practicing anything tbh

#

if you practice fast from the start you'll never be able to do it well, just fast and poorly.

topaz axle
#

do most people have hold shift to slow walk btw or the other way around?

#

in their settings

pastel wolf
#

because once you're in a gunfight, you just release shift and then fight normally

topaz axle
#

okay makes sense

#

ty for the advice

#

gonna practice for a few days then post another vod

most players don't know the exact distance but they have a general feel
