Notes for Scmidity

Round 3 you should have traded reyna. I know u said watch the smoke dont peek but you can see they are getting wide. Match the teamates intent. They get wide u swing wide. If u die u die but more often than not u will get the trade for sure.
After that your again slow. Ur omen flashed a short use that. Run to the greeb double box and drone or go drone elbow.
After that sage is getting wider and wider and u are walking saying wait for the recon. Just go with the sage. If she dies u cant trade her with that gap

Round 4
Good plan. Ur team listen and got a pick. But after they are running in cause they have and advantage of players and ur not ready. Just go with omen. Hug his ass and trade him. U saw him knife out running hes not gonna wait for the drone

Round 5
Kinda not ur fault ur team fought mid. But i would say sova is not an agent to fake solo. U need to play with ur dualist and team. If u saw my jett going mid I am not reconing window. I am going mid and reconing mid for her or just playing with her. For faking u need 3 player shown to the enemy for example smoke, recon and dualist going in. Imagine u said omen smoke elbow so they cant see if we are taking control of a main. Right now the enemy only see 1 sova recon and they are just comfortable playing mid and b.

Round 7
Very good pacing and trading i like it. Just a suggestion instead of using recon for site use it to take elbow. Ur omen blinds a short u recon elbow and its easy to take space. U used a drone to clear site anyways. By the time u get to site the info u got from early recon is useless. More or less players can be on site because it will take u 10 seconds or more to take site. Think of this as ascent a site. You dont recon site before u take a main.

I will give u the golden rule of recon.

Use a recon (eye/recon) is the decision u take is different depending on the info u received

Ur decision can be take the area aggressively or just rotate to another area. A recon info becomes useless after few seconds so the timming and placement is very important

Also don’t I want to recon site early to get info on how many is defending site (and also get recon dart back faster)? Or should I mostly use it to just clear the sections before site so we can take space?

I play sova on sunset. I use recon early on elbow window to take control and drone later. On b site i usually call my cypher cam to clear it

Think of lotus. U use fade eye for taking ruble control and c mohnd control. U dont have to use it after 3-4 rounds if u recognize enemy isnt playing there. U have to condition them “hey the sova recons elbow every round” before stopping

In ur vod enemy was playing elbow every round u went there so yeah i would use recon for that section of map to prevent any early picks

@fervent sequoia I took a cursory glance and most of what $ said is all I would say for attack however two things I want to point out regarding util usage and pacing

  1. as per the golden rule of recon, there is ~15 seconds where the information is relevant, I frequently saw you on defense immediately pulling out shock dart and losing free kills > if you drone or recon prioritize having your gun out (for drone ulting is also good)
  2. this is related to pacing but you frequently drone while your team is already fighting, in those situations your number one priority should be getting active in said fights with your gun

Drone is either to take space (before any fights happen) or to reclear/ make things no longer a 50/50 (for example in post plant to see if they’re coming lane OR stairs)

Love the comms in general. You can be a bit more precise with telling your team exactly where you intend to recon (eg. A short or A elbow).
If the plan is to recon + ult to take site, then you need to commit to popping ult as soon as the first recon ping begins.
Round 11, you don't tell your duelist that you're gonna recon top mid and they dry peek into an operator. These dumbasses will sometimes peek before your recon even if you DO tell them to wait, so you shouldn't make it any easier.
Round 12, you recon elbow and then still clear the right corner going in, trust your abilities.

When you're second in line, 90%+ of the time the best thing to do is get close to the first person and play refrag.

I'm definitely feeling like I gotta work on my comms more. As a previous smokes player my comms were way cleaner, clearer and more concise because I was under less time pressure I think. As a recon initiator now, I think I'm giving myself a bit too much pressure to get the calls out quick and fast (when I'm calling out enemy pos.) and I'm not liking hearing myself say "one here" or "one elbow"

We lost 14-12 and I top fragged and IGLed as best as I could, but I feel like I could've still done more. I wonder if is just a difference of a couple rounds or if it's a more general thing in my play that I could fix so the game didn't have to be as close
