it seems it's watermedia trying to load vlc library libvlccore.dylib but it is not supported on ARM?

apple silicon m4 crashes watermedia / vlc issue?

#

so, after disabling watermedia, fancymenu, drippy loading and waterframes, the issue was gone. However, after creating a world and trying to join, minecraft would crash completely, upon further investigation of the new crash_log, it turns out that JDK has a bug on arm64, https://bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8307549. the Spark mod uses the code that triggers this bug on ARM, therefore removing spark has fixed the issue of the game crashing when creating a new world.

#

however the watermedia bug still persists without completely disabling the aforementioned mods (excluding spark as it is a separate issue, also involving ARM)

#

as I imagine fixing this does not rely on the pack devs, perhaps an FAQ entry about running on Apple Silicon would suffice? I would be happy to test stuff if the dev team doesn't have Apple Sillicon machines on hand 🙂

tested with default aarch64 java 17/21 installed by prism and 17/21 adoptium

Fortunately, there is already an FAQ-like document covering this topic, listed in step 1 of the pinned "READ THIS: How to ask for help" post.

Not much we can do about it on our end besides inform players and hope they're paying attention.
