First of all I have to say that OWI HAS DONE A GOOD JOB WITH THIS GAME! Having played PR from back in the day on BF2. It was my go to game for just enough realism and arcade to enjoy it over any other game. Fast forward to SQUAD, it’s still my go to game even after buying all the major FPS games out there.

The one suggesting and question I have is, and I hope a OWI dev. comes in and educate me, Now that AI is a thing how hard would it be to generate a completely RANDOM layer. No premade lanes on any game mode?

Like I want to be fighting over a dam farm field for no reason. Or the very corner of the map, in the middle of the desert for no reason, a dam cliff side, a random road, or heck a car wreck out in the middle of no where. Of course where there are bodies of water it would be off limits. But I have a feeling it would be a lot of complex coding.

But this way would completely make the game replay able 100% and would take away the rush to the “know” lanes of the game map.

There was a lot of effort in building the maps and they are huge and I feel that a lot of players don’t take the time to explore the maps and this would also make the players learn no spots on the map and experience new corners of the map.

Anyways. I wanted to ask a dev on how would this be a possibility or what are the limits of doing something like this?

This would just make for an unplayable, boring, unfun game.

Classic, very normal military objectives. Everyone knows we only fight over meaningless areas.

This obsession with "I don't want to know where the enemy's objective is" needs to stop.

The entire purpose of the game is to engage and maneuver the enemy. Spending the first 20 minutes of the game blindly driving around hoping for contact is not conducive to the fun experience of firefights the game is trying to have

Just because I can address a community problem doesn't mean I agree with the sentiment that drives it

@green osprey I dont see anything wrong personally. only for the first 10-15 min of the game its uncertained. I mean that's how war is really first you drive around until you receive contact.... Whats annoying is people learning the layers and knwoing whats the next flag is. So when you get a less experienced team they are already at a huge disadvantage. Plus the one thing you know for a fact is where the main is and you can camp that depending on the server. You can always make the enemies MAIN unknows as well. That's another way to control main camping as such.

There are so many things wrong with the idea that it takes a novel to pick apart

#

Rest assured the same terrible idea has been had before and picked apart by vultures

The short of it is that not knowing objectives does not make for a more fun game, and objectives themselves being crappy areas to fight over is counterproductive to actually having an enjoyable game.
