#Fix graphic

No, it’s not irony. I just think the colors changed for the worse after the update — the game looked much better before.
Old basra was a garbage map, only fun for armor to farm kills on invasion.
No it was from the best map's
bro's just ragebaiting ignore him lol
I understand, and I just want to clarify that I’m not trying to cause any argument or negativity. I truly love Squad and only shared my feedback because I want the game to return to the enjoyable experience it used to be. My intention is purely positive and respectful.
Fix graphic
Yes to less yellow, no to old Basrah
Old al basrah was piece of shit with unbalanced mains
My friend this is my opinion and many players agree with me but more important than this now is the graphic.
so you rejecting that this map have unbalanced mains?
new map is good for both infatry and armor
old map is good only for armor
I understand your point, but I still think the old Basrah map was more enjoyable overall. Even if it wasn’t perfectly balanced, it had great atmosphere and fun gameplay that’s why many players miss it.
you are free to make a mod for old al basrah
tbf old Basrah was the most played map.
I dont think many players miss it. It was rarely played before unless the alternative was a worse map or it was forced by the server.
Most of the upvotes here are probably for your color feedback, not old bas.
I understand your point, but for me (and many others I’ve played with), old Basrah had a special vibe and atmosphere that made it really fun. Maybe it wasn’t perfect, but it felt unique that’s why I’d love to see it return someday. Anyway, I respect everyone’s opinion.
AlBashrah was statistically the most played map by a margin, long before the rework.
Not that I personally would want to defend it and I was very surprised by that fact in the past.
I loved Old Basrah
By whose metrics? It didn’t even make top 5 according to MySquadStats.
It was a moderately popular map, with terribly outdated assets that made the map look dated, flat terrain that made infantry crossing impossible, imbalanced flag layouts…
The new Basrah is by far a better map. It improves on all these aspects while maintaining the spirit of the original. It actually is the most played map since 9.0, though this is probably skewed by initial hype and will probably fall down to #3-5
Pehaps try altering the saturation and bright might be more a personal issue.
No from game graphic especially when game at sunset this is not a beautiful time in basrah and when u join training u see color not beautiful like before.
True, Basrah had some open areas and was more vehicle-focused, but there are also many other maps like that where infantry can’t push much either. The new Basrah doesn’t have the same building design or those nice large structures the old one had, it just lost that charm. I simply don’t like it.
Those maps are also problematic and it would be better for the game if they were reworked as well.
I don’t agree with that. Those maps might have their issues, but they’re not “problematic.” They’re unique and very fun to play — many players enjoy them a lot. Maps like Talil and others you mentioned are more like tactical challenges, not problems.
No, they are problematic. The way they play is predictable. It results in defensive turtles on both sides, games going 30 minutes without any progress.
Mutaha doesn’t have these problems, its one of the best maps for this reason, and why its #1 most played.
Talil and Mutaha are way diff maps
Tallil however does, particularly with Gas Town.
One has some of the best layers, one has some of the worst
I see your point, but I still disagree. That kind of gameplay can actually be enjoyable for many players it creates tension and requires strategy, not just rushing. Not every map needs to be fast-paced; variety is what keeps Squad interesting.
Mutaha doesn’t have these massive gulfs of dead space between objectives like Basrah and Tallil does. It’s a classic design of dense urban structures making it possible to progress as infantry.
It’s not about being fast paced. Every map has the same pace.
Mutaha is still a slow grind especially in games with high skill players!
But you can actually do something effectively in nearly every phase of a game on Mutaha
Yes I'm with u with that
New Basrah captures this despite not being a simple dense urban core by providing much better terrain. Even it’s worst areas like the push from Airfield south to Al Khora is infinitely better compared to old Basrah
40 people in every game are infantry. Maps that deny infantry agency like old Basrah, Tallil, Goose Bay, etc are some of the worst in the game.
From a utilitarian standpoint, reworking these maps in the same way would make the most people, the majority of inf players in every match, happy
Meanwhile, keeping Old Basrah effectively only serves to make a minority happy and for most of us is just wasted space on the harddrive that we could have back
I see your point, but honestly, if the old city buildings had remained in the new Basrah, the map would have looked much better.
Also, it would be great if they removed the sunset time, because it doesn’t look good and makes the colors feel off the lighting was much more enjoyable before.
For me, the graphics and lighting before the update in Basrah looked much better especially when it wasn’t during sunset.
The colors were much more beautiful before.
The graphics and lighting before the update looked much better. The colors were more beautiful, and the lighting had a nicer tone overall. Even in the training range now, you can see that the lighting doesn’t look as good as it used to. It would be great if the devs could improve and adjust it again.
I really love Squad, and that’s exactly why I’m saying this I just want the game to go back to looking and feeling better. And I hope developers see my feedback.
Yea sand maps are definitely yellower. Part of it is down to sun position, they made this realistic lighting system based on the sun and then made it always low in the sky on these maps.
Realistic because they never invented noon in the Middle East 🥴
Many of these old city building models were atrocious. I can only assume you’re talking about the 15 story buildings.
They made no sense. They were entirely empty giant buildings with windows everywhere, making the thing a damned fortress.
I understand they want to make the game more realistic, but not like this. The sunset style lighting, or the lighting in general, doesn’t look good and doesn’t feel nice.
The lighting in general is great, its the sand maps that got the short end of it with this weird always sunset yellowing
It’s realistic that color shifts at different times of day, but every one of them seems to be at this same time with the same yellow shift
Yes, it’s true there were big buildings with many floors, but that’s exactly what made defending more fun and tactical. We could place mortars or other defenses, and it created really intense and interesting fights both inside and around the buildings. Those areas had a special kind of combat that felt more dynamic and exciting.
I do not think that nade spam on the stairwell was dynamic and exciting
Because thats how you cleared those buildings
There were no cool tactics being used
No variation in strategy
Ins would drop a radio near the top and build emplacements blocking the stairs
I get your point and I appreciate your opinion! But I’m still standing my ground on Basrah 😄 I think it was awesome, and many players agree with me on this one!
😅
I don’t think that many do, and even if they do shouldn’t be listened to.
One of the worst designed maps is now one of the best. Simply worth celebrating.
The “charm” of terrible design is not worth bringing back
Thanks for the discussion, mate! 😄 It’s always fun to share different opinions. At the end of the day, we all just want the game to keep getting better! 👍 @serene fractal
