I agree they should change it. They can always walk it back.
I think the kits should be better than riflemen at doing certain things. Not just being a hose. People always pick these kits over Riflemen because they want to play a different playstyle but it always fails because you're making so much noise and are stationary. A basic rifle kit with PIP will win.
bare minimum the more compact MG like the M249 should be able to lean and shoot. Even if you made it slow. It's unacceptable to me that you can't even lean with it.
I just probably wouldn't add prone leaning because it would actually be awkward to use like that.

Right but irl you’re not going to take the same risks you do in Squad.
MGs should be made to actually fire accurately when used in bursts, which isn’t the case right now, and then suppression can be toned down from there as is needed (and it will need to be, but should stick around a bit).
The biggest issue is that MGs don't serve a purpose other than suppression right now, they're too cumbersome to use other than in a few situational and prepared bipoded spots, and are too inaccurate to actually kill past a close range.
If they were just more accurate and less situational, you wouldn't need to change suppression at all because the combination of actual lethality and screen effects will do the trick.
Right now MGs are jokes that aren't respected, me and many others just run in front of them (even close range & bipoded) because we know they can't actually hit us. All they can do is just suppress us which we can just stop behind cover and get stamina back and be fine afterwards

Suppression isn’t a bad purpose, but it works because they’re scary. And in Squad, because of their accuracy and recoil, and because of Squad being a game, they aren’t scary.
Another thing is that if you aren't a FTL on a FOB you cant build a actual fire position, so you're forced to run from bugged bipod spot to bugged bipod spot just trying to find a spot that works, only to finally bipod and shoot, have a large puff of smoke come out of your gun and have the guy that has a scope that isn't properly effected by your suppression just one tap you after he immediately locks on to you because of said smoke. All the meanwhile you cant kill him because your MOA
These don't serve a place in most squads
they are only really good in defending squads in which case emplacements can do it's job way better while having that role open for something better like HAT
Other thing I think they need to address with is prone gameplay and blocked barrel. It's pretty bad and it kinda seems worse after the UE5 update. I swear the player perspective is lower than it was before UE5.
There are too many instances of your barrel/shots hitting the terrain when visually it seems like you're fine.
I'd like to see maybe the two "true shot" dots at the bottom of the screen turn into an "X" if your barrel is being blocked. Not sure if would be simple to do but it would help a lot. Instead of trying to adjust the maps or character mechanics. Just provide information to the player.
