But what would be new about this faction? It has a lot of Russian weapons, nothing new.

There are military vehicles, helicopters, and also a lot of specially produced weapons and snipers belonging to Azerbaijan. Similarly, a good fight would be an innovation.

At least make a detailed post about what an Azerbaijan faction could have and what they bring to the table that isn't available with the other factions in game

The Azerbaijan Armed Forces would make a unique addition to Squad as a modern mid-tier army that blends NATO-standard equipment with post-Soviet legacy systems. Azerbaijan has real-world combat experience in the Caucasus, is globally recognized for its advanced drone warfare (Bayraktar TB2, loitering munitions), and would bring both a new region (the South Caucasus) and a fresh playstyle to the game. Unlike existing factions, Azerbaijan’s identity lies in being hybrid: not as advanced as US/Russia, but far more modern and flexible than insurgents.

Weapons & Equipment: Standard rifles include AK-74M, AK-12, Tavor TAR-21, and M4A1, with sidearms such as Glock-17 and Makarov. LMGs would feature the PKM and Negev NG7, while AT roles could field RPG-7, Kornet, and Spike LR. What truly sets Azerbaijan apart is its diverse sniper and marksman arsenal: SVD/SVDM for squad marksmen (600–800m effective), domestic rifles like Yalguzag / KNT-76 for accurate mid-long range fire, and modern imports such as the IWI DAN .338 and Truvelo/CheyTac rifles for extreme long-range (1000m+). Heavy anti-materiel rifles (Barrett M82, AW50, Istiglal 14.5mm, Denel NTW-20) could serve rare, high-cost roles against vehicles and fortifications. This wide variety reflects Azerbaijan’s hybrid procurement and gives players multiple layers of long-range gameplay.

Vehicles & Assets: The faction could field BMP-3 and BTR-82A IFVs, T-90S tanks, and light vehicles such as the Israeli SandCat or UAZ. As a distinctive commander asset, the Bayraktar TB2 could provide reconnaissance or limited precision strikes, supported by loitering drones like Harop for unique tactical options.

I’m all for Azerbaijan eventually, in 35 years. But first we need to polish what we have and introduce actually unique factions that are constantly asked for (e.g. France, Germany, Japan)
