Building/large scale destruction is not really something you can just add to a game thats 10 years in development, stuff like that needs to be added from the start.

I would suggest we add building destruction in a way that leverages buildings that are already made.

Some buildings have damaged holes in the roof and walls. Lets call this "minor" damage.

A good example of this is the roofs on fallujah and mutaha.

If you blast a wall with enough tank fire or artillery shells or mortar fire, or c4 the building could enter a "major" damage stage, where the model is replaced.

All the walls would be blasted flat, and it would have short sandbag high walls of busted brick, instead of tall walls and roofs.

But the building will still be there. It's not disappearing.

Two story buildings would have a destroyed top story, but the bottom story could still be solid, but maybe with an extra hole blown in the wall where a window used to be.

At most you could make some parts of the building provide less cover.

For example on Harju apartment buildings the windows could be blown out, and replaced with gaping holes, even as the building still stands, and maybe there's a big hole in the floor from the roof to the level below.
