#Factions and their Potential Attack Helicopters

I decided to make an infographic showing the attack helicopters that could be added to their respective factions. Some liberties had to be taken, for example the VDV don't directly operate any dedicated attack helicopter.

I cited some sources that imply that they're coming at some point. I bet we see armed versions of the existing transport helicopters (like the UH-1Y CAS) before dedicated attack versions.

Though I guess since this is a little bit related here are some ideas for SPAAs I've had. (Canada and Aussies could be more reliant on emplaced MANPADS or have more infantry manpads to make it up)

MEA: Shilka

US army: Linebacker

USMC: Avenger Humvee

UK: Stormer HVM

TLF: KORKUT

RGF: Tunguska

VDV: BTR-ZD since it's already in the game, though maybe the ZSU-23-2 could be the modernized version with iglas on it.

PLA: PGZ-95

PMC: a truck with an Oerlikon 20 mm turret on the back or an ex israeli m163 since they have tanks for some reason

My main concern is that this is going to be a HUGE development effort. They need to make the helis themselves, they need to make the MANPADS and maybe SACLOS missiles, plus they need the models for all that.

My guess is that they'll be adding CAS like something they have in GE or MEE. Just some static MGs and dumb fire rockets, and I would be very surprised if actual dedicated CAS helicopters might be very far off.

If attack helicopters are going to be the "tanks" of air assault units, then yes. But let's not forget that both teams consist of 50 players in total, adding too many vehicles will reduce the number of infantry a lot, this happens on modded servers already. this worries me the most, because I know we can balance missiles etc. but we are stuck with 50p per team

the issue is that the ones that they've shown are very early development prototype, and by the footage that we got it is hard to tell how far along it actually is. What they had shown might have been a side project that one of the experienced devs did in the spare time over a weekend, or smt that a dozen of devs worked on for weeks.

ether way, they will defo not be adding guided munitions for a while and they'll not add 30mm autocannons to them, so we will ether get heavily castrated CAS helis, or it'll take a long time to actually get to these ones

if they'll keep adding CAS stuff, then it'll most likely be smt similar to Loach. So Mi-8 with rocket pods and stuff like that

most ground vehicles are much more effective than IRL

IRL tanks do not kill 10+ vehicles and 50+ infantrymen per hour.

It's been in the sdk for years, GE just added them to the game. GE basically doesn't have a single original asset from what I understand, either using stuff present in the SDK or getting stuff from a 3D asset store.

There's no shame in that, modders across many games have been doing that for years, I'd say my main critique of GE mostly revolves around its devs, the gameplay, and it's community

Well, the Mi-8 CAS in GE defo uses exactly same assets that are in the base game, it's just that iirc they cobbled them together themselves

It's not a bad thing, but it staggers me how many people glaze tf out of this mod

Especially after the devs of it decided to remove vehicle ticket cost (tho It does seem that this move caused more people to notice its flaws)

I mean there's also the devs sneaking in advertisements for their own servers into the mod that had it automatically play in other servers (a thing that violates the server ToS)

And when OWI asked them to remove it from the mod, the devs made it seem like OWI was taking the mod down for no reason which really sent GE fans into the most insane frenzy I've seen from a video game community. The amount of times I saw people saying "OWI took the mod down cause it was getting popular than the base game" was too high

they didn't JUST put adds for their own servers, they made it so the add was replacing text in the voting, iirc
