yeah M27s with VCOGs and suppressors are more of a post 2020 thing.
The most they could do is just add more M27s with RCOs(ACOG) since the USMC started to replace M4s with M27 in 2018/19

I mean in game. USMC SL kit must be an M27 with Grip Pod and ACOG

there is no set time period for squad, but generally the games current equipment is from the 2010-2020 time period which is why we have AK-12s, M17 Handguns, M38s, etc.
And for the 'only 15k M27s' part. Yeah that is true but the M27s are only for infantry, which only accounts for about 20k marines.
