#TURN OFF VOICE COMMUNICATION AT DEATH

Nonsense - the most useful info conveyed by a downed player is their icon on the map, which requires them not to give up to remain visible. The audio cues are largely unnecessary.
Hence why people keep recommending this change
This is an interesting suggestion. I am a fan overall of introducing a deeper fog of war in Squad.
You could compromise here: Make the wounded communication local only.
I also posit that the wounded/dead should be able to hear radio communications at all times yet not be able to transmit.
I don't think the premise negating the suggestion is correct in any case - the advantage of being able to communicate while downed will not be enough to make anyone switch to external communications, everyone is already on discord anyway.
You dont tho. You just punish the individual random player, because groups with dedicated discord servers will have a major advantage.
You also dont consider the consequences for the SL.
Like not being able to communicate with 1/3 of the Squad all the time.
Der Shredder, I notice you have a pattern of putting words in other people's mouths. Instead of saying what I think or how I feel, state how you feel and how that contrasts with the idea. It would help you not seem like such a pointless drone all the time.
@azure spire
I am not putting words in your mouth. You claim that this proposal would add depth, I simply pointed out that it would only punish unorganized players and especially SLs, while creating an advantage for organized groups who dont use the ingame voip.
There was a similar question raised in Star Citizen
Since SC aims to be the most realistic possible, to the point that NPCS and players should be considered the same on same aspescts
Would it make sens to be able to have an instant chat with someone who is 2 star systems away with a video call ?
It doesn't
In SC lore, communication is assured by relais.
So if you have to share an info from 2 solars systems away, you have 2 ways to do it
Either you broadcast it in the open.
That way your info is transfered by radio or light or whatever through the solar system. To go through one solar system to the others, there are relais posted at the entrances of jump points.
Jump points are natural disturbances in space that can be used to jump from one system to another. And they are the only way to do so
And so your info goes through relais to relais, through jump points to jump points (via drones), all the way to its destination
That's one way to transport information in SC
The other way is literaly to do it yourself with ships like the Drake Herald. Info runners who are basicaly data storage strapped to a huge engine just to go as fast as possible
The reason for using them is because the first way is hackable
And any info too important to run the risk of beeing hacked should be transported by info runners
And so SC has a whole concept of info running. A gameplay made for it
But then a question arose
What can be included in that gameplay
Answer : everything related to the game, except voice comms
Because, obviously, if 2 humans players want to play SC together, they'll use voice comms
And if they had the choice beetwin a realistic clusterfuck in SC or simply using Discord or whatever, then they would use Discord
.
And that's basicaly the same question here, should the player be denied a tool for realistic pursuits when he can just use a third party instead ?
And the obvious answer is no, because it would only force players to use third parties system and punish thoses who don't
