#M10 BOOKER (MGS / US ARMY -> Air Assault + Light Infantry)

How about replacing the MBT of the Air Assault and the Light Infantry for the US Army with the new M10 Booker?

An “assault gun” would be more logical and visually more fitting for such light units... (In addition, the “82nd Airborne Division” will actually get the Booker first in reality with the start of 2024)
This would contribute massively to the “idea” of a light force and fit the doctrine.

In order to maintain the function of “balancing force” that the MBT has in the units, I would suggest adjusting the spawn times a bit, here is a suggestion:

Air Assault

MBT -> MGS
First Spawn 30min -> 20min
Respawn 20min -> 10min

Light Infantry

MBT -> MGS
First Spawn 20min -> 10min
Respawn 20min -> 10min

it's a vehicle from 2023, good luck getting it into Squad

it's not even in full production yet

what's next, T14 for RGF?

well we know how OWI handles it, the time frame is treated quite loosely (yes I'm looking at you CTAS :D).
Which isn't a bad thing as long as it feels coherent and the balancing is right. Unlike the T14, the Booker doesn't really stand out in any way, it's just a fast light tank (officially not a tank).

From a gameplay point of view it would at least be an “immersive” and doctrinally fitting expansion.
But as always OWI decides what will be done in the end.

So I would at least be happy if the Booker comes in, but if they don't do it, it wouldn't be bad either. 🙂
(Either way, it wouldn't be overpowered or anything like that)

This looks like a worse MGS to me.

Yeah you could just swap the tanks these unit have for the Stryker MGS atm (along with some buffs).

#

Booker is meh but it'd be okay in Squad.

Now read the rest of the wiki about the Sprut (not sdm-1) being removed from service because it leaks oil and catches fire. The SDM-1 was meant to be produced en mass but to date it hasnt.

Anyway, the Sprut is a vehicle from the early 2000s and fits Squads time frame. The M10 is a brand new vehicle which entered service only this year and would be completely outside the time frame, while not adding any new abilities to the US faction. It is arguably less useful than a MGS. If OWI would adjust their time frame and add new stuff for other factions as well, fine add the M10. But as long as they stick to the current timeframe the M10 would be out of place and there is no important gameplay gap it would fill.

What time frame does the SDM-1 Sprut fit into? Its not even been made or in service 😅

Booker is low on the list of additions.

#

It'd add something but not very much.

Im not in favor or against the M10, i was just pointing out this whole "timeline" thing is a total farce. Biased for the Russians more than the other factions.

It's just a sinking feeling given this admin canceling perfectly fine projects for no clear reason

#

Especially with how the booker got cancelled

#

It would've served a fine roll, especially considering how well 40 ton vehicles like the leopard 1 and T-64 are performing in Ukraine

#

It seemed to get canned for entirely political vague reasons about budget saving and more made up issues that was regurgitated by the media

#

They legit dropped the whole airdropable thing fairly quick into the program, to can it now even though both vehicles were designed for the newer plan of having lighter tanks that have less of a logistical foot print and could be deployed faster than the Abrams is so fucking stupid

#

Point is the DoD is stupid
