Well the LAV has 25mm HE and the AAVP is has 40mm frag grenades, obviously the 40mm will have a greater splash range.

Except one of them is fragmentation designed to launch shrapnel in all directions and the other is HE. And its not that the LAV rounds are any weaker in terms of damage anyhow, their damage radius is just smaller. If you stand at the edge of the damage radius obviously itll take 100 rounds to kill.

The explosive filler in the 25mm M792 is 30gr, the 40mm's M430A1 has 45gr. 40mm has 50% more explosive filler than 25mm.

I'd say things are working as intended.
