Hey everyone!

I'm happy to see the Lumi team encourages others to make mods/hacks of Lumi.
If you're unsure as to what my hack is, it's called Sweltering Sun, (USUM Hack) I can provide links to the docs and whatnot for anyone who is curious.
Also have a YT channel explaining my changes and philosophy more in depth (vids for every mon) as well as streamed playthroughs of the game, etc.

(Not trying to self-promote, but give anyone who doesn't know a better idea about the inspiration for the hack and the type of hack it will be)
(General philosophy is to make game challenging but fun by giving every single mon (fitting and unique) tools/buffs (in the form of new move changes, abils, ofc stats, etc) to overcome bosses and to be able to use any 6 mons to beat a boss if you plan correctly)

I want to make a Sweltering-style Lumi hack but I have a question about 3.0 first:

If I were to work on it now (or wait until 3.0) how compatable would my new changes (I would be changing quite a lot about personal stats, trainers, move names and effects, ability names, and more) with a future natdex update?

For ex, if I started it now and then 3.0 drops how easy is it to update without messing up my own changes?

Or, if I waited until 3.0 to start (which is what I'm considering doing) how easy would it be to update when another update eventually comes adding gen 9+ mons?

Let me know! And when I actually begin the project I will definitely be asking for help when needed!! <3

When natdex 3.0 releases, the backend will have slots in place for all mons up to 1025
Currently the public release 2.0 only has slots up to 1010
IF you plan to do major work i would wait for the initial natdex release build, as the way form offsets work in this game means things get internally bumped when extra forms and species are made
so taking changes from a 2.0 build into a 3.0 won't work directly, your moves sets for alolan grimer might get bumped to like, galarian ponyta or something like tht as an example

#

and it would take a long time to manually fix it up

I see, thank you- and then the eventual gen 9 update would just be something I would worry about when that time comes then?

#

(Probably won't be awhile, I know)

yeah essentially the initial natdex release will have fully polished models up to gen 8/enamorus, everything after will exist, it will just not have any assets, so the model points to ditto etc

#

but you could still edit stats and data of that species

Ohh cool, so then when the gen 9 update did eventually come out it wouldn't mess up slots

#

Because there's already enough slots

#

They're just not in the game yet

exactly

Cool, thanks!!

we try to front load as many changes as possible so things stay compatible

(Not to be that guy, but is there an EST release for 3.0? Roughly? Like, months, or?)

nay, all volunteer work

so no one has deadlines for anything, we do what we can with the time we have
