-Playing on 4k. Have most SSR settings on high/medium. Weaker pc's should tweak between low/medium and short light/shadow distances.
-put your brightness/gamma higher. 1.0 or 1.1 and put that color to 1.4 in basic graphic settings
-not using any reshade/enb
-some extra texture mods to make it more pretty

I use reshade only for AA but i turn it off when taking screenshots cause for some reason having it on screws up the screenshot

If it looks smooth, probably just luck and partly trying to take a pic that has the least amount of shimmering in it

how do you people get the wet floor when it's raining? I've seen some screenshots and the floor is like wet when is raining.

Atmospherics I assume
Are you using the debug menu? If yes, you need to click the play icon. If it rains naturally (without using the weather debug), check the SSS options in MCM under water wetness or something like that. There, you'll find two sliders: one for how fast puddles fill up, and the other for how fast they dry.

anyways the rain is a very light rain so I guess that's the reason why the puddles are "small" and filling up slowly

This is using sss 22 parallax shaders and the normal map is pretty aggressive already so maybe I'll switch back to a concrete render
oh, honestly i just feel like anything involving "leaves, or foliage" needs some pretty good amount of depth to look real/actually like foliage, and not some leaf themed wallpaper, thats just my take though

3440x1440, and about colors and everything else, itβs a very specific user.ltx + custom LUT + custom weather made from Atmos 2.6 or smth (but tbh only the sky textures werenβt changed
) + some shader tweaks(that fog needs some tweaking still itβs to tall and top transition should be smoother ).

did you update atmospherics? try downloading the latest from moddb, there was a bug in early 0.93 with dark shadows when the game is in fullscreen mode, but im not sure if this was hotfixed or not since

not really, you pick the options you want, and make sure its placed in the right load order spot, i like to use the sky textures that come with atmos, the weather options are all up to you

so it didn't help. hm... other things i can think of, is to make sure anomaly default (visual->advanced) ssao and grass shadows are turned off as they are stacking with SSS. same with reshade, don't use reshade for ambient occlusion. you can also try going through all the SSS settings and resetting them to defaults, and lowering shadow settings to your liking

I think i figured it out
C-Con grass mod. There's an option for SSS Shaders in 2k 4k 8k. I reinstalled without choosing any of those and no longer have super dark shadows.
as far as I'm concerned, and this is after resetting the game entirely, there is no stacking with SSS/visual difference of SSAO being on or off in the advanced settings, left is on, right is off

i'm just saying what ascii (the author of sss) recommends. it could be that his algo overwrites default, but its more likely that the effects are the same, and you just lose FPS by running both shaders instead of just one (one of your screens has a lower framerate)

Hi! Have issue: How to get rid of noise effect on shadows and lights? I have circled the most prominent places in the paint, but in reality there are many more such places. Tried reshades - doesn't help... Version: not modded (vanilla Gamma).
sss - > shadows and light -> untick force volumetric or lower volumetric setting below it from 0.8 to 0.4-0.5

When you say shader tweaks do you mean within the settings for SSS?, or do you use a reshade you made as well I presume?.
some things like fog or pbr from es, etc... you can adjust in .h files in shaders folder, but to achieve those crips lights and shadows you just need to not relay on ambient light since blending of it completely removes baked lightmaps - user.ltx or console lumscale_amb 0.05 or smth like that, idk what will work with atmos or my old cfg's

At random I discovered that this problem arose due to volumetric lighting and SSS (possibly SSAO). Setting up SSS did not give anything, so apparently we need to somehow convey this information to Grok.

Well I found this on Atmospheric's moddb page
it's only fixing 3 commands responsible for gamma contrast etc, they are not working in windowed version
and i believe that problem was caused only because hippo took my values that i shared in sss dc, since they were identical 
Ill try updating it anyway when i can, also ill try tinkering with some settings on SSS, i didnt really change anything there

So did you disable SSAO and that fixed it?
I tried disabling SSAO but it had no effect. POSSIBLY the problem lies in Atmospherics. I found old versions of this mod in \Gamma\downloads that shouldn't exist (downloads12-31.7z, the latest pack). On the Atmospherics page it says that it is compatible with SSS 22. Maybe the problem is that the launcher installs an old version of Atmospherics. Now I have deleted all the old versions of SSS and Atmospherics and will check them.

I remember in GAMMA in like 2022 visuals were really easy to get a good looking game. Having spent almost 2 whole days recently im just not sure what's broken but something somewhere isn't quite right and i cant figure it out.
There's also they grey 'haze' that seems to permeate the visuals. Reshade can sort of get most of it out but im not sure where in the mods or game cause this.
Well i never played gamma before, but I did play with sss on my own modded anomaly, i dont remember shadows getting super dark when you got into them, i noticed this when i started gamma, and I was at the clear sky base and the inside of buildings were super dark
Could be something related to ambient light not working properly
I think I have the lighting just right on this new Anomaly 1.5.3 game. Just don't ask how I did it.

I'm having the same issue as some others mentioned before: hazey effects, too bloomy, the effects just look too much and overexagerated. it wasnt like this some months before. I also played with some settings but still looks like a garbage reshade :((

If the grass is too hazy, turn down the translucency. I think it's in the flora fixes setting.
what about the lightning of the fire? its like very present in a 2m radius but after everything is just playin dark as you can see at the ending of the video
hey, just wanna let you know that there's a bug in RTSS that causes frametime stutter when you have any form of power monitoring enabled. if you want I can link you a video. Once you disable power monitoring it goes away

0.93 has SSS 22, the noise you guys hate so much is caused by volumetric effects, you can turn them off entirely or increase the quality/ lower the intensity of the effect to get rid of it
left - default volumetric settings. quality: low, intensity : 0.8
mid - quality: med, int: 0.5
right - disabled
open the pictures in a browser window and zoom in to see the noise

ATO4 is a texture pack by paul, base gamma has a very bright gray asphalt texture that stands out while ATO has one that's pretty dark like yours

A combination of addons, I use this old one called Summer Season Redux along with Aldyn Grass and Trees ( spring/summer version) for the summer, then I use Golden Atumn for the nice near fall colors, and then Late Fall, and then for winter I use Inverno.

I tried the volumetric setting but my game still looks so unnatural. also the lightning at the anomaly is weird. really liked the visuals few months back ago when it wasnt overloaded as it is right now
i cant help you with the anomaly light as i'm using arrival which lets you customize anomalies and effects, and im just not sure what to do about those perhaps something in mcm-> dynamic anomalies overhaul can help with that. atmos did go into a more neutral color direction, so if you're looking to pump more color back into the game, i recommend installing emergent zone luts and choosing one of the more colorful options (use 100% lut variants)

lolol, yeah i thought something was off, there are some textures that are very nice with ATO 4, but honestly some things look very off and i muchhh prefer the default concrete for the roads
it doesn't help that the wood grain is horizontal on those beams instead of vertical, not sure why that choice was made
this here right here shows (IMO) how much better default roads are to ATO 4 in my experience (default left, right ATO)
though to be fair if you look at the shack to the left in the bottom pictures, ATO looks better. so it's not terrible it's just some things need to be changed.

This brick wall texture has been upgraded in ATO 5. Many textures in the game are used in various areas on different sized geometry, sometimes flipped 90 degrees and or magnified/stretched. It's impossible to make each one look great throughout so I always concentrate on the areas where it's most noticeable for sizing. Hope that helps.

only things on reshade I'm using is SMAA and Adaptive Sharpen, no lighting FX or anything, and then I'm using https://discord.com/channels/912320241713958912/1224348512280379494, I believe the 1st 100% option LUT. I have Weapons DoF turned off completely. Also note I am using Emergent Zone in combination with Atmospherics that's already with Gamma. I think that's it mostly in terms of fidelity settings/lighting. (also playing at 1440p)

Oh shit, slick! I am also only using Reshade for AA as well as ADOF (I enjoy DOF but certainly not the Weapon DOF included with SSS). I am sure I can click that link but I am guessing that Emergent Zone 2 is one of the paid Lut presets?

So which method are you using to get the cleaner 'original' screens? I thought using Reshade to get screens in .jpg format would fix it for me, but I have the same issue as the F12 screens

left is your Nvidia AA settings, right is iMMERSE anti-aliasing (SMAA) in reshade. was worth a try but this reshade option still looks better in my experience.

I use the iMMERSE SMAA in Reshade
last photo dump and then I'm off for the night, really happy with the look now.
nvidia control panel MFAA requies MSAA, so if you don't have MSAA enabled in game it does absolutely nothing - and since a lot of mods actually require MSAA to be disabled, there is no point in even using nvcp for AA. you either use reshade, or use supersampling with DLDSR. there is no alternative until ascii implements temporal AA
why would you need an alternative in the first place? this works wonders
and its quite light to use
because motion vectors take up 10-20 fps and is too slow, has no benefit on a still image

Nope. Shadow rez is at minimum. Ggx specular is enabled in the ES pbr settings also.

in reshade you should have a fx called iMMERSE Anti-Aliasing, that's all I'm using for AA

use CMAA instead, and set quality to 4 in the settings, its better. the default settings for smaa are good, but you can lower the first (detection radius iirc) from 0.100 to as low as you want, its kinda redundant at 0.5 but you may get a bit more out of it. cmaa is still better imo
Looks pretty much the same for me, might have reduced a bit of the shimmering when running
ive done screenshot comparisons and yeah they are similar, but cmaa was consistently better (and i believe its faster too), but ofc you can do as you like

do u use ccon grass? using the console presets like cfg_load ccons and cfg_atmos is different than just tweaking the bars in the menus.
donβt know what your are talking about, i only used the console once to put the value recommended by the Grass tweak mod
from what i can test and see in my game the only thing i need to change is the render distance of the shadow casted by the headlamp on the grass. Since in can see them but only when iβm near the grass
but canβt find a setting that affect this
