hmm, i have all the effects mentioned without using SSDO (i use HBAO), nor does the mod's page state that SSDO must be selected for all effects to work, unless i'm reading it wrong. (aside from improved SSDO itself, obviously)

I don't know about the other effects but using HBAO apparently locks out SSS's SSDO which I think is pretty good and more performant than HBAO.

yeah, that's what i was saying about SSDO itself, but i don't think not using his SSDO cuts off all the other features of the mod (which I've seen other people say, as well - it might be kind of an "urban legend" getting passed around.) having tried the available AO options HBAO seems to run and look the most appealing to me 😄

Honestly, I don't know this stuff well enough to speak with authority, I just go by what the mod authors write in their descriptions and they're almost always more knowledgeable than me.

Ah, HDR isn't quite what I'm looking for. I'm using AdaptiveFog as it really adds to the atmosphere and has a great deal of control for distance fog and color, the only drawback being that it brightens nights because it doesn't dynamically account for time of day. It worked really well in my Dying Light 2 preset but here people seem to prefer realism.

I guess editing ltx settings is really the best way to go as I'm finding out rather than a postprocess.

Advice to you is to not use so much AO try to stick to one effect instead of 3 different types

it kills fps

or if thats still not good enough you can wait a couple of days for marty to release the new version of MXAO which is supposed to be the best reshade AO period
