Correct, the main issue Starfield has is mediocre writing in multiple places but especially main story coupled with them failing to deliver on the exploration front which is what's carried Bethesda RPGs for decades

They're really good at delivering a specific formula for their games, and if you give people the same thing for 5 entries of game, it wears thin

The biggest issue is that you can do the same formula for the overall game, but if you fail to deliver that experience of "pick a direction, walk in it for a bit, find interesting things to do and sidequests that could have pretty decent writing." Starfield completely fails on this front since there's so few POIs that you're bound to run into literal 1:1 exact copies of dungeons within hours
