NPCs are not very dangerous and shoot... like a bolt action rifle, regardless of their weapons. They basically never roam - they are on bases that randomly spawn.
Othat than that - it is a lot of looting and shooting zombies, with not a lot to loot it all for. Like, base building is pointless - no raids or anything like that. Most you can find are lore excerpts in notepads
