That's basically how the act I of the campaign ended - there was another major disaster in a coastline city (specifically - in the waters around the city, but the radius of the contamination was big enough to hit the city as well). This happened while the player group was doing some investigation / cleanup in an abandoned town near their provisional HQ. During that investigation, they found an old abandoned military research facility, and they decided to investigate it. They were unaware that there is an old techmagic device in the storage room, and when they turned on the power to the facility, they activated it. The device was activated for long enough so that once they figured out it exists and that it's bad news, disabling the power was no longer a solution, because it started powering itself up with the surrounding magic. The group was also literally 6s too slow to actually stop the device, and one of them almost killed themself because he tried to turn himself into magic gas, which would've sucked him up into the machine and killed him instantly. Anyways, the device finally discharged and transported the group along with the entire facility back into its original position, which just so happened to be in the very center of the first contaminated zone, because surprise surprise - the initial incident involving this machine was the reason the zone was there in the first place. They managed to contact the HQ somehow, and the rescue is planned, but they will also have to go out of the relatively safe facility into the contaminated area, and it is going to be very, very dangerous. I actually gave them access to a special type of tank that was parked inside the facility, which is meant to withstand the magic corruption, but not for a long time and not this strong. It's going to be a very wild ride to get them out of there, and I can't wait to torture them

I've already established that technology doesn't like being in contact with magic, but I didn't mention that with strong enough magic the technology can be taken over and act like a "living" being
So in short - if they don't realize that the tank is being corrupted, it will eventually turn into a mini boss of sorts

I also want the players to try to use the opportunity to learn more about stuff
They will have to balance keeping the tank functional (and not a threat) with surviving the hostile environment and trying to satisfy their own curiosity
And one of the players made his character have an unhealthy obsession with gathering more knowledge, so it won't even be hard to convince them to do some extra unnecessary exploration

This faction has multiple sub-leader robots, and all of them have different personalities and priorities. The players have previously befriended one of them, and it just so happens that he was contacted by the leader of the player's org to get them out

And they are not so friendly
It's meant to kinda bamboozle the players once they do meet up with the rescue party
Because they may or may not think it's another group of hostile bots
And, before you ask
Those robots are immune to magic corruption
Because they themselves run on magic
It's complicated
Just know that they are immune
So, if the players do an oopsie and get taken out
They will eventually be found
And they may lose a companion or two
Unless one of the players gets hit by a tank shell or something
But at that point it's their fault

The most basic idea behind the setting is that the world is about to be consumed by a terrible crisis that only a few people who actively researched the topic know about.
Specifically - 500 years ago the natural magic was sealed away in an alternate dimension, but after those 500 years that dimension became full of that magic to the point it began escaping into the regular dimension. If a solution to this is not found, the world will simply "explode" with magic, turning it into one huge contaminated area like the one the players are in right now.

Ok, so first impressions on hive scum:
- The shivs mk i are much better than the crowbar, as much as I wanted to like the crowbar, it just isnt that powerful, and it struggles massively on armor
- The stims are best when you put points into the Spur and Wildfire trees with 1-2 points into Barrage or Kalma
- The dual autopistols are best with Blaze Away and Pinning Fire as blessings
- From my experience the dual stub pistols benefit most from Crucian Roulette and Run 'n' Gun
- Enhanced Desperado is incredible when used with the Spur stimms, due to the buff to attack speed, meaning you fire faster (with the dual stubs that is, the autopistols have the same rate of fire regardless)
- The Boom Bringer (rocket launcher) is nearly required if you dont bring the shivs/dont use the rending buffs on your stims
- Adrenaline Frenzy is possibly the best of the 3 keystones at the bottom, considering its almost always active when chopping through hordes with the shivs
- I find the best main Curios buff to be either health or stamina
- When using the stub pistols, the special ability is great for sniping enemies due to giving near perfect accuracy when trickshotting (also sick as fuck)
- If using the shivs, you should pack the Lacerate and Mercy Killer blessings to maximize damage output on crushers and other tanky targets (unlike veteran you dont have access to a talent that procs bleeds, so you need Lacerate or some other bleed source)
