Basically, I generally dislike character arcs for main characters, but I don't think that character arcs are bad, they're important, and most stories simply wouldn't work without main and/or side character(s) having an arc.
I prefer when the main character is established in a rock-solid way and doesn't change from start to end, or changes very little. Instead, they change the other characters and/or the world around them, you could even say that they're the center point around which the arc revolves vs otherwise being part of the arc.
Also, this doesn't mean that the main character has to be overpowered or such, sure, I like when the character is competent, love it when they're overpowered, but it could be a sickly kid for all I care, as long as I find the character interesting and likeable. This applies to both arcing and flat characters, but being flat and powerful does increase likeability from me. But also worth nothing, I have pretty obscure preferences on what kinds of characters I find likeable and not.
This also doesn't mean I don't enjoy stories with character arcs, there are quite a few stories that I love, which have the MC go through a huge amount of change both physically and mentally.
Basically, this not an "either/or" situation, I like both things, but I know which one I like more.

I'll also use this opportunity to express how much I hate it when people assume that, if you're analyzing something, then you must dislike or have a problem with it.
For example, a device in a sci-fi or fantasy setting, I'll question how it works, think about how it could work, and about its construction and qualities, mechanisms et cetera. Doesn't mean I have a problem with it or don't like it.
If anything, it means I'm actually interested and paying attention, and possibly liking it a lot.

Finding stuff that i genuinely like is difficult, like, I'm not super critical and picky, despite the whole tangent earlier with the arcing vs flat characters. but many stories just don't seem to click at all
And while I did (still do) write a lot, it was (is) mostly in short, lyrical and poem-like structure, now I'm trying to write long-form stuff, surprisingly enough the skillset doesn't transfer that well, at least for me
