healing is instant, no animation or anything, and replenished during combat

Healing charges (spirit) could've been used as sort of "guard", if you have spirit, you can resist an attack (except special attacks), could be shown with a last-moment automatic deflection or just as toughing it out. once spirit runs out, you take one or two hits to die
