TL;DR - STR 5, PER 5, END 9, CHA 1, INT 9, AGI 5, LUK 6.

The first thing you do after you wake up is set your S.P.E.C.I.A.L points. That stands for: Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, Luck. It's basically your basic stats. They all start with 5/10 and you have 5 free points to invest in whatever you like. But you can also substrat from another for more points.

Strength -> Important for strength threshold for some weapons, otherwise it lowers accuracy, and you can carry 10 extra loot for every strength point.
Perception -> Increases the distance at which you can detect other creatures.
Endurance -> Increases your health, healing rate and resistance to poison.
Charisma -> Makes your companions a bit stronger.
Intelligence -> You gain more skill points when leveling up.
Agility -> More V.A.T.S points and faster weapon holster and reload.
Luck -> Raises the value of every skill and improves critical chance.

There is more to these, for example in different dialogues with NPCs you will need certain points in a stat to be albe to say various things, and a higher luck stats makes you more likely to win at the casinos, but that is the bulk of it.

A Gravemind starts out as a Proto-Gravemind—a Flood form created by merging the bodies and biomass of numerous sentient life forms; some Flood forms may also be repurposed and merged into the Proto-Gravemind. After a Proto-Gravemind has been created, nearby Combat Forms will continue to supply it with fresh bodies, allowing it to accumulate mass, increase in size, and gain more memories and intelligence from consumed hosts. Eventually, the Proto-Gravemind reaches a certain critical mass and becomes self-aware—a Gravemind. This critical mass tends to be made up of thousands of bodies if using human-sized bodies as a measuring unit.

When this happens, the Flood will leave the Feral Stage, entering the Coordinated Stage, rapidly accumulating in size with the Gravemind's massive intelligence. Eventually, when the Flood infection has become too large for even the Gravemind to control—or when no life remains in the galaxy—the Flood infection will reach the Intergalactic Stage, and Flood will leave the galaxy with the intent to create a new Gravemind elsewhere. It is not known what happens to the Gravemind once this occurs.

Gravemind makes up a distributed intelligence, with a single primary consciousness made up of multiple, smaller instances that seem capable of acting independently. This is shown in Silentium, where the Precursor Gravemind compares itself with Catalog, a group of modified Forerunners networked together into single mind acting in concert with many others.

an armed fortress nation, established by the legendary mercenary. He was
feared in combat by both his friends and foes as a hero and a lunatic. The
"Western" nations have found that a weapon of mas destruction capable of
rewritting war history is under development at Outer Heaven. They have called
upon the high-tech special forces unit FOX-HOUND to take care of the
situation. In response to this order, Big Boss, the commander-in-chief of
FOX-HOUND, sent Gray Fox, the man with the code name "Fox" which is given to
the best member of the unit "Operation intrude N313"

After a few days, his last message being "Metal Gear..." Gray Fox was missing
in action. Taking the situation seriously, the top men of the "West" again
called for FOX-HOUND. Big Boss selected Solid Snake, who had recently joined
FOX-HOUND, as the agent and entrusted everything to him.

Successfully making a solo infiltration to Outer Heaven, Snake got in touch
with local resistance members Schneider, Diane and Jennifer. With their
co-operation, Snake suceeded in rescueing Gray Fox. Gray Fox laid out the
terrifying facts about "Metal Gear" Metal Gear was the development name of a
nuclear warhead-equiped two-legged walking tank. It can walk through over the
toughtest terrains that would stop normal tanks. It can conduct local warfare
by itself with unique weapons like its vulcan-cannon and anti-tank missiles.
It was indeed a new type of weapon that can conduct a nuclear attack against
any place on the face of the Earth from any l and surface...

With Metal Gear, Outer Heaven was trying to establish its military superiority
over the entire world. In order to destroy Metal Gear, Snake rescued Metal
Gear's chief engineer Dr. Pettrovich and his daughter, Elen, who was taken
hostage to force her father to continue with his development. Snake hears from
Dr. Pettrovich how to destroy Metal Gear.

Through the game, you will find various S.P.E.C.I.A.L permanents modifiers:

• At the New Vegas Clinic, a doctor can give you 9 possible implants, 7 will increase each stat by 1. But you can only takes as many implants as you have Endurance points, so starting with 9 Endurance is ideal, you can take them all and it leaves room for that +1 endurance implant.
• The "Intense Training" perk can increase a S.P.E.C.I.A.L point by +1. You can take it 10 times but I usually take it once or not at all.
• At the end of DLC Old World Blues, you can gain Spineless perk that gives you +1 Strength or Reinforced Spine that gives you +2 Strength. But this is late in the game.
• At the end of the DLC Lonesome Road, you can add one additional S.P.E.C.I.A.L point, but this is again late in the game.
  So keep that in mind when creating your character

However, as Snake approached the heart of Outer Heaven and Metal Gear, well
designed traps are set all around Snake- as if his actions are being leaked
to the enemy...

In the midst of the escalating battle, the leader of the resistance,
Schneider, fell into the hands of the enemy, and Snake himself was injured
through the deadly battles with Outer Heaven's best mercenaries. But Snakes
indomitable spirit lead him to the 100th floor basement of the secret base
where Metal Gear was developed. Evading the powerful defense system that wipes
out all intruders, Snake ultimately succeeded in destroying Metal Gear.

Snake tried to escape from Outer Heaven upon completing the mission. However,
during the escape he was comfronted by one man- FOX-HOUND's commander-in-chief
Big Boss. Big Boss laughed at the astounded Snake and told him the truth
behind his mission. While serving as commander-in-chief of FOX-HOUND Big Boss
also ran a mercenary dispatch company utilizing his connections and capitals
from his own years as a merc. He was planning on to build this company a
larger military establishment, and he built Outer Heaven as its base. His
purpose for sending the rookie Snake was to cause information confusion
amongst the west. However, Big Boss miscalculated. He never thought Solid
Snake would make it this far...

Having lost Metal Gear, Big Boss activated the self-destruct system of the
underground base. While the countdown to destruction continued, his screamed
echoed in the emptiness

"YOU HAVE GONE TO FAR. TOO FAR!!!"

On the 100th floor basement, the battle between the 2 men commenced- free of
idealogy and politics. The armed fortress nation Outer Heaven collapsed. The
impenetrabe fortress made from the best military technology and occupied by
the toughest mercenaries burned in flames. Behind him, the flames reached
skyward, as Outer Heaven fell leaving Solid Snake all alone...

There are probably many opinions on this, but I think an ideal S.P.E.C.I.A.L build is:

• Strength 5 -> Unless you're planning to make a melee character, 5 is not great not terrible.
• Perception 5 -> It's useful to be able to see more in the distance but there are more useful traits.
• Endurnace 9 -> This will increase your health a lot as well as allow you to get all 9 implants from the New Vegas Clinic after you make tons of money. Don't raise it to 10, the Endurance implant will do that for you.
• Charisma 1 -> It's basically useless, only improves your companions. And you can upgrade Speech and Barter independent of Charisma.
• Intelligence 9 -> Always useful to have, you get more points to invest when you level up, which allows you to eventually make a fully 100 skills character at level 50.
• Agility 5 -> A good trait that gives you a faster reload, faster holster and more V.A.T.S points.
• Luck 6 -> Luck is OP, at luck 10 you get criticals like hell. I suggest investing all other S.P.E.C.I.A.L points you get from various events into luck.

1999, the world was facing an energy crisis. It was obvious that the petroleum
would run out faster than what was expected. However, the development of an
alternative energy resource is far from completion. The price of petroleum has
skyrocketed and the world economy in confusion. The 21st century was expected
to be one of chaos. One mans invention changed the entire situation. A Czech
genius and biologist, Dr. Kio Marv, invented OILIX, a microorganism that
refines petroleum to product a highly purified form of petroleum. The world
was filled with hope upon the discovery of this messiah to solve the energy
crisis, but at the same time the world entered a time of tension regarding
this new algae.

Just when the whole worlds attention was drawn to OILIX and Dr. Marv, he was
abducted by someone and disapeared. Nations begun investigations immediatly
anda name soon appeared...'Zanzibar Land'...

Zanzibar Land was a democraticmilitary regime that suddently appeared in
central Asia in 1997. When their uprising took place, the CIS Army, formed
around Russia, sent in a suppressive unit immediatly. Zanzibar Land resisted
by gathering a band of Mercenaries from nations around the world and
fortifying most of its land. As a result, the CIS Army was repeatedly
defeated, and Zanzibar Land declared its independence. Due to the active role
mercenaries played, this war was called the 'Mercenaries War' and Zanzibar
Land was referred to as an armed fortress nation. A military nation with a
group of strong mercenaries, surrounded by a tough fortress.

After a series of deadly battles with mercenaries, Snake finally made it to
Dr. Marv's confinement facility. However, he arrived to late. He saw Dr.
Marv's corpse and Pettrovich, who could do nothing but just stand there.
Pettrovich told Snake that Dr. Marv could not withstand the repeated tortures
because of heart problems. Snake then recieved an emergency call from Horry.
The information she supplied was very shocking. Pettrovich had been
voluntarily visiting Zanzibar Land to develop Metal Gear. The abduction of Dr.
Marv was conducted under the the directions of Pettrovich himself. After the
truth came out, Pettrovich attacked Snake, but Snake easily put an end to him
and obtained the structual plan of OILIX.

While trying to escape, Snake was confronted by Metal Gear again, controlled
by Gray Fox. The tremendous battle took place in the underground base. Snake
finally succeeded in destroying Metal Gear. However, Gray Fox did not submit
and challened Snake to the final battle. In the midst of a minefield, Snake
and Fox fought without any weapons. A fist-to-fist duel involving no hatred or
murderous intent. During that moment of purity the 2 were bound by forces
transcending words and emotions. Snake won the tough but pure battle against
Gray Fox. However, there was still someone else. Snake had to fight Big Boss.
Just like 4 years ago at Outer Heaven Big Boss was waiting for Snake. "One
who has experienced the tension of battle can never leave the battlefield.
I'm the one giving you something to live for, and that is war" Snake was
infuriated at the arrogant Big Boss "There is only one battle I have to fight.
To free myself from you, to shatter the nightmare...Big Boss, I will kill
you!"

The plot begins with Devil May Cry 3, a year after Dante has a falling-out with Vergil.[18] A large tower erupts from the ground near the shop, and Dante interprets it as a challenge from Vergil.[19] Dante is defeated in Temen-Ni-Gru by Vergil, who takes his locket and leaves with Arkham. Dante's dormant devil power revives him, and he resumes pursuing his brother. Vergil wants to use the pendants their mother gave them in a ritual to create a portal to the Demon World. The battle is joined by Lady, who wants to avenge her mother's death by Arkham; Arkham manipulated the three into completing the ritual, which would allow him to acquire Sparda's sword: the Force Edge.[20][21] Dante and Vergil defeat him, and resume battling each other. The portal begins to close, and Vergil approaches it. Dante pleads with his brother not to go, but Vergil leaps into the Demon World before the portal closes. Vergil is tested and encounters Mundus, his mother's killer, battling him with his sword Yamato, a magical katana with the power to open portals in space and separate worlds, which once belonged to Sparda. When Lady returns to the human world, she muses on the nature of devils and humans, coining the phrase "devil may cry"; Dante decides to use it as the name for the shop.[22][23]

Dante is confronted in Devil May Cry by Trish, who reveals that Mundus is planning to return and only a descendant of Sparda can defeat him.[24] He explores Mallet Island (where Mundus is set to return), encountering demons which include Mundus' general:[25] the undead Vergil, Nelo Angelo.[26] As Dante approaches Mundus, he falls into a trap which reveals that Trish is the demon's agent; he saves her, however, because she resembles his mother. Trish saves Dante from Mundus, and Dante realizes his father's power.[27] Dante defeats Mundus when Trish helps him return Mundus to the Demon World.[28] Dante and Trish escape as the island collapses and work together in the Devil Never Cry shop.

Ghost helps up Roach and carries him to the Pave Low where General Shepherd awaits. Shadow Company troops are heard on the radio.

Viper 2-6: This is Viper 2-6, stand by for rocket attack, over.

SC Pave Low Pilot: Uh roger. Hit 'em hard on that hill, make sure they're down.

Viper 2-6: Roger, I'm on it, coming around heading 2-5-0. Roger, I got 'em lined up.

Ghost: Come on, get up! Get up! Get up! We're almost there!

As they walk towards Shepherd, radio chatter can be heard from Shadow Company.

Oxide: Gold Eagle's on the ground. Watch for snipers on thermal, over.

SC Soldier: Cover them! Move! Move! Spread out!

Shepherd approaches them.

Shepherd: Do you have the DSM?

Shepherd: Good. That's one less loose end.

Shepherd takes out his .44 Magnum and shoots Roach in the abdomen. Roach falls to the ground.

In the Devil May Cry: The Animated Series anime, Trish is a demon hunter; Dante is the bodyguard of Patty, a young heiress who becomes obsessed with him. Patty's mother is descended from a sorcerer who sealed the power of Abigail, an ancient devil lord. Patty is targeted by Sid, a demon seeking Abigail's power. Lady and Trish fight demons summoned by Sid, and Dante kills him.

Dante is invited by Lucia in Devil May Cry 2 to meet her mother, Matier. Dante learns that Arius is collecting artifacts, called Arcana, to summon the demon lord Argosax.[29] Dante flips a coin, and decides to help.[30] Lucia confronts Arius, who reveals that he created her.[31] Lucia gives Dante the last of the Arcana before facing Arius alone.[32] Dante encounters Matier, who asks him to take the Arcana to save Lucia from Arius.[33] Lucia attacks Arius, but he captures her. Dante arrives, trades the Arcana for Lucia, and attacks Arius (who escapes).[34] A stream of energy strikes the Ouroboros tower, and a portal to the demon world opens. Dante and Lucia argue about who will enter, and Dante determines that he will go.[35] After Dante leaves, Arius returns to the human world and Lucia defeats him.[36]

In Devil May Cry 4, Dante and Trish discover a dark conspiracy within the Order of the Sword and investigate while learning of its religious leader named Sanctus and his plans to conquer the world using demonic power. In Devil May Cry 5, set several years after Devil May Cry 4, Nero runs a mobile branch of Dante's Devil May Cry business.[37] He befriends Nico, a weapon-making artist and descendant of the gunsmith who crafted Dante's Ebony and Ivory handguns.[38] Nero's Devil Bringer arm from Devil May Cry 4 is stolen; armed with a prosthetic Devil Breaker created by Nico, he leaves with Dante and the demon hunter V to face their "strongest foe yet".[39][40]

Although the series' timeline had placed Devil May Cry 4 before Devil May Cry 2, it was retconned with the release of Devil May Cry 5.[41][42] DmC: Devil May Cry, developed by Ninja Theory, is not part of the timeline and takes place in an alternate universe from the main series. Along with a very different looking Dante, it moves away from the gothic look of the previous games to a more contemporary setting with some social commentary on mass media and culture.[43]
