First half of Knights of Sidonia hit me in similar feels to Muv-Luv.

tall current
#

i know none of these

rapid jolt
#

I didn't have as visceral a reaction to it though. Muv-Luv is like, dumb harem highschool setting rom-com into pure torment.

#

And it's a very, very slow turnaround

calm charm

I do too often

tall current
#

most recent anime i've watched was ederunners, got sad. read pun pun, then i was done with japanese media

rapid jolt

Go read Nichijou or something

its a cute story about music πŸ™‚

rapid jolt

Nichijou is actually funny and I know nothing about Japanese humor.

tall current

yeah ill just watch some mindless happy anime if i feel like going back

#

tbh fight anime are really fun

tall current

azumanga was really funny

rapid jolt

I still need to watch that...

#

It's in the same vein as Nichijou

I fucking go in person to buy shit like that too. The cashier can look me dead in the eyes while I buy the big booby ecchi manga and slap my wallet on the table in front of him

rapid jolt
#

That's literally on the back of the copy I bought last from Barnes and Noble KekSkew

#

I know it's a meme to look at Patrick Bateman behaviors and go "wow literally me" but I think this kind of manuever in particular is straying dangerously close to it

#

But I haven't heard shit about it so far. Dude just asks me what my favorite manga is lol

#

(He probably sees weirder be bought from there)

#

I still have a bunch of other screenshots I haven't posted here. I also found out you can get rid of the text when you're looking at an artifact by going idle and not touching anything for like, 10 or so seconds

rapid jolt
#

Nope

tall current
#

also what settings is this on

rapid jolt
#

Turned off the hud in game and took it with steam kek1

rapid jolt
tall current

calm charm
#

wait whats the hotkey for that? turning HUD off? I looked and didn't see it

rapid jolt
#

(I don't have a 4090)

rapid jolt
tall current
#

4k

rapid jolt
#

Stalker 2 is mostly CPU bound as I've come to find out. People complaining about poor performance on a 4090 or high tier 30 series card fail to note their CPU.

tall current
#

all of my screenshots have the fucking HUD on goddamit

rapid jolt
#

My 4070, by their assessment, should be struggling. But I've got a 7800X3D on this bitch

#

So it runs fantastic

#

Bozo spotted.

tall current
#

yeah i have an i94900kf so it's never been an issue

tall current
rapid jolt
#

Intel.

calm charm
#

I was gonna say intel and you BEAT me!

#

yeah Intel fails in optimizing for some things, and are generally slow to fix it

tall current
#

i mean, it runs really well for me

rapid jolt
#

Among many other issues

#

Intel is not bad but their more recent shit is just.. a signficant waste of money for an "upgrade"

#

If you have an intel CPU that's good it's fine but trying to move on while keeping intel is a painful, expensive process with not a lot of raw gain

tall current
#

i do sometimes think that an amd cpu would've been a better choice but no use thinking about it

rapid jolt
#

Yeah. When your PC borks itself you can browse Gamers Nexus' charts and see what they've found is the general best

calm charm
tall current
#

yep

#

as long as it run idc

rapid jolt
#

I wish I got a beefier GPU so I could do 4k but 1440p is still a massive upgrade over 1080. Especially having hz that's 240 instead of 60 lmfao

#

HDR is also sex (when the game works properly with it.) Stalker 2 is nice enough to have a really sweet HDR mode

#

(All the screenshots I've posted are with HDR)

#

Darkness just looks... right

tall current
#

nvidia is just for high end cards, i think if you want 4070 or lower wouldn't it be better to get an amd card

rapid jolt
#

Β―_(ツ)_/Β―

#

Dad gaslit me into getting a 4070 when my computer was still running a fucking 3700x. From 2019.

tall current
#

but yeah im dumb when it comes to this stuff

rapid jolt
#

The performance increase in CPUs over the last 5 years is quite staggering. And my new PC has only been around for less than 3 months. If I knew my PC would be this beefy in every other component I probably would've gone all the way for a 4080 Ti or just a plain ol 4090

tall current
#

is there a 4080 ti

calm charm
#

yes

rapid jolt
#

Maybe if the 50 series is truly mind bogglingly op I'll sell my 40 to someone with a mid end niche and mark it down from retail price just a bit

#

Will make someone's day for sure

tall current

"bro, im telling you wait for the 70 series youll regret buying anything now"

#

why are they so low

rapid jolt

NVIDIA is hooked on the AI crack, please understand they forgot to insert a reasonable amount of VRAM 3856trollwide2

Hello everyone ... Here is how I traced the issue : I have a weird issue that start happening after the mission Escape the swamp and this issue stuck with me after this mission regardless of the area, I reloaded an old manual save just before the swamp mission and there is NO STUTTERING ... fallow stone
#

Red forest has to be one of the most interesting locations throughout all the games, it's fun to be here.

sour narwhal
#

It definitely feels a lot better than it's last-gen "open-air dungeon" thing it had going on

wicked adder
#

I just wish there was more going on there

#

Once north of Rostok there isn't much in the way of cool side quests or world interaction

fallow stone
#

I mean when you turn on the world's biggest rave machine to fry the brains of the ward it's kinda hard to top that

#

Meeting Doctor was fun too.

#

I think my biggest aesthetic disappointment in S2 has to be the emissions. They just look like the breaking bad mexico filter with lightning now. There's no pretty sky after it's done, no funky energy tendrils...

wicked adder
#

I think that’s kinda cope. It’s not like the emissions stopped

warped monolith
#

they stopped being fancy is what he meant kek1

wicked adder
#

And nowhere is that said to be C-con specifically

#

And how β€˜gone’ they really are is somewhat up to interpretation

clever sigil
warped monolith
#

wait, soc has no emissions

#

or was it that scripted thing in cnpp that you had to run into the sarcophagus to escape? kek1
Thought that was a psi storm like the one that happened earlier in the game

wicked adder
clever sigil
#

Every time Strelok gets closer to the generators the number of emissions increases

wicked adder
clever sigil
#

when you brainwash someone to kill themselves and they instead come and kill you.

clever sigil
wicked adder
#

The subtle matter and β€˜intelligent’ zone isn’t really a thing in any substantial form until stalker 2

#

Strelok gets to the CNPP the first time which triggers a direct C con reaction, then clear sky happens and Strelok triggers a second reaction and gets mind controlled

Then he reaches it again in SOC, triggering a third and killing off c con

clever sigil
# wicked adder

the suble matter is slightly confusing.

We get to talk with Strider but also the thing we talk with in STC is just a program.

wicked adder
#

Yeah, I’m not convinced that’s really β€˜strider’

#

But also the STC program changes depending on what ending you choose

#

The same β€˜program’ that acts robotic in all other endings acts more human in the spark ending

outer depot
wicked adder
outer depot
#

No that’s normal for Monolith

#

Extreme memory loss when under CCON control

wicked adder
#

Uh, no? Strider literally remembers what he did as a monolithian the first time

clever sigil
outer depot
#

Most of them don’t remember shit and state as much

wicked adder
#

But when in the β€˜subtle matter’ zone he’s unable to even remember being recontrolled

#

He doesn’t even remember the outcome of SIRCAA

clever sigil
#

Strider for sure is an exception, after all he broke off while the network was still working.

#

"working"

outer depot
wicked adder
#

I’m not denying he’s an exception, sure, he definitely seems more resilient than the others

Im just saying that the projection of him isn’t that convincing to me

clever sigil
outer depot
#

The projection is just too advanced compared to the STC

wicked adder
#

We know that β€˜projections’ created by the shard of the monolith can have memories. Dalin’s father proves that

outer depot
#

Now yes it could very well be just his reflection and not the original

#

In fact that’s likely the case; it’s a copy of his mind bouncing around the Noosphere

clever sigil
wicked adder
#

I’m just saying that these memories might not be β€˜them’. Though one might argue that your memories and you are the same thing

wicked adder
clever sigil
outer depot
#

Hence not actually β€œimmortal”

wicked adder
clever sigil
outer depot
#

Though to the mind of the person floating around, they’re still them

wicked adder
#

I’m still not sure why Dalin Sr has unique dialog for spark

outer depot
clever sigil
wicked adder
#

Honestly that could be. I always wondered why Faust brought Strider to the doctors house

outer depot
wicked adder
#

To play pretend? Someone the other day suggested that Strider came there subconsciously to kill Faust

clever sigil
outer depot
#

When you tell him he’s dead he reaches for his neck where Doc stabbed him which ties into him momentarily regaining consciousness in that cutscene right as he dies

wicked adder
#

Why did he bring him to his house… only to have him attack us and then kill him

#

Part of me wonders if Strider maybe was resisting Faust more than we see

outer depot
#

That’s honestly the reason I think it’s not just psi radiation; he does recall he died when you tell him about it meaning it’s not just a capture of before he got retaken by the Monolith

outer depot
wicked adder
#

Very true

clever sigil
#

it more feels like the reason why Strider was the first to break off the monolith influence after the C-Con died and X-network got shut down and was able to remember being killed by Doc... Is that his psi resistance is not as weak as its with other monolith.

#

Faust got direct controll of him when the network was restarted because he was standing right next to the artefact

#

Strider then came to his house because faust lost the controll again after some time.

outer depot
#

I mean clearly the intent is to leave it open to interpretation, but I think it’s definitely bending towards the Noosphere in fact being able to capture a copy of a person in it vs not being able to do anything and it’s completely a lie.

clever sigil
#

probably for revenge

wicked adder
#

I mean we know people can have natural Psi immunity resistance

#

So, maybe strider is one of em

clever sigil
outer depot
#

Yeah though it’s a bit odd given Strelok says a person can only survive C-Con brainwashing once, yet it’s able to assume direct control of all Noontiders without them keeling over like Dark

wicked adder
#

I just kinda assumed it’s the TVs specifically

outer depot
#

Could be

#

It definitely fucks up Scar when we flash him

wicked adder
#

And even scar can β€˜tank’ a couple of those but maybe that’s because his brain is borderline mush

outer depot
#

β€œWhat’s even left in there”

wicked adder
#

Turns out having someone else’s memories shoved in your head (why the fuck did c con even do that) isn’t good for you

outer depot
#

Well that and his whacky nervous system

clever sigil
outer depot
wicked adder
#

The thing is that obviously Marshall and the spark guys happen AFTER COP, so scar is presumably in the CNPP for years

#

It’s all very odd

clever sigil
#

he basically got lucky that he got processed before the network died down completely

outer depot
#

The thing is though the note about the memory reframe reads like it was done so much later

#

Like literal years yeah, not during the immediate post-CS mass brainwashing

clever sigil
#

you win some you lose some.

wicked adder
#

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. The memories scar has couldn’t have been gathered until like 5 years after his initial brainwashing

#

So was he just a faceless monolithian in that time? Sitting nearly comatose in that hallway?

Because that means he really was undergoing programming for like… years

outer depot

Right unless dude was on the floor there for years until after OG-Spark was a thing and then killed

clever sigil
wicked adder
#

But it had to happen after call of Pripyat because ward wasn’t a thing before then

#

The spark members didn’t head north until after ward

#

Thanks GCW for breaking your own lore, very cool

clever sigil
#

well

outer depot
#

Maybe Scar was just converted to an actual monolithian and by chance the Sparkers managed to both capture him post-CoP and then reprogram him

#

That’s all I got

clever sigil
#

ward was a thing for as long as SIRCAA was

wicked adder
#

They’ve had no presence in the zone until after cop, I guess you could argue they were β€˜secret’ I suppose

outer depot
#

Yeah but they weren’t active in the Zone until after CoP afaik. TBH I’m still a little confused why they even hunted down the original Sparkers anyways

clever sigil
#

and SIRCAA was already mentioned in CoP

mossy nimbus
#

So I just finished 2 S2 endings and I am bit confused: what was the Faust revelation in Doctor's ending supposed to be about? If you shoot Doc, he dies with blood and everything, no illusion break. But if you spare him it is revealed it was Faust in disguise even though you actually killed him in Duga boss fight?

mossy nimbus
outer depot
#

Because the original Spark was described as essentially just being a few scientists and not an actual faction and then Ward apparently came in and curbstomped the eggheads

wicked adder
#

It’s pretty unclear

Maybe through subtle matter Faust was able to be at two places at once?

#

Or maybe he was β€˜projecting’? The doctor isn’t blind after all, but Faust is

outer depot
#

I think the answer is that it’s a SoC tier troll ending

#

And it shouldn’t be looked at too hard

wicked adder
#

Or maybe they’re not the same person but both manifestations of the zone’s will. I have no real answers unfortunately

mossy nimbus
wicked adder
#

OG spark though is just the Yanov ecologists, like spirit and Topol in COP. But marshal isn’t present so maybe he had already gone north prior to COP, but this would mean that ward was secretly in the zone for years

clever sigil
#

pri_a28_outro_phrase_19_a

#

to be specific

wicked adder
#

Yeah it’s where Strelok goes

clever sigil
#

"SIRCAA was established sometime after 2012 by the Ukrainian government after Strelok passed on the information he found at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant to the USS Commanders. Strelok immediately took up the position of chief scientific consultant."

mossy nimbus
#

hang on, SIRCAA is that new department Strelok is that special consultant for?

wicked adder
#

Yep

outer depot
clever sigil
#

and the Clear Sky started at 2011

mossy nimbus
#

oh right, I played czech version of CoP years ago, that's why I couldn't piece it together

clever sigil
#

On April 21, 2014, SIRCAA's security team gave Venyamin minimum clearance and resources for his investigation, while also setting up surveillance to track his movements. Many years later.

Venyamin was found dead in a bunker near Yaniv. Furthermore, SIRCAA's security team has been actively eliminating "illegal elements", presumed to be stalkers. SIRCAA was seemingly engaged in a conflict with a group known as "Problesk".

#

Problesk being the original name for Spark

wicked adder
#

Which is meant to be spark

mossy nimbus
#

good lord, so many things were done dirty in S2 - Duty, original Spark, Scar, even Strelok to certain degree

outer depot
#

Like Ward even organized the joint mission between everyone to try and capture the Generators (which failed)

clever sigil
#

so by that we know that Scar was in the CNPP from 2011 to atleast 2014

wicked adder
#

I had read that, but had forgotten. Which confirms that spark was only actually attacked after COP, which means that scar really had been sitting in a pile of his own piss for 3 years

2006
March 4: A phenomena of blinding light illuminates the sky high above the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The incident lasted two full hours before subsiding, with witnesses saying that it disappeared as if power suddenly failed.
April 12 14:33 +2 GMT: The phenomena repeats itself with the skies illuminated by an intolerably bright light. However, the clouds rapidly evaporate. This is followed by a tremendous thunderous crash, lasting far longer than normal. After the thunder fades, there was an ominous silence, followed by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake. The glow in the sky continues, spreading over the entire region, while deadly energy disturbances raged through the Zone, making any rescue effort impossible. Subsequent investigation turned up the fact, that the center of the explosion was at least one kilometer away from the CNPP, evidently the nuclear fuel dump going up.
June 10: The Zone abruptly grows five kilometers bigger after the supposed 'emission' which came to be known as the "Second Disaster". The 'new' Zone manifests, with reported instances of the very laws of science being defied. Most of the Military presence around the perimeter perish, together with the staff and crew of the various laboratories in the Zone. Panic-stricken people from nearby villages are once again evacuated.
In response, the Ukrainian Military moves in force to the center of the Zone with the objective of destroying it with the use of nuclear weapons. However, without any protective gear, proper equipment such as detectors, or any adequate information about the Zone, many of the ground troops are killed by anomalies before they even managed to reach their objective. The troops that did reach the CNPP are destroyed by another emission of less intensity than the first. The operation ends in massive failure, with the survivors scattered and left to fend for themselves against the Zone's harsh environment.

#

Captain Tachenko, squad leader of a group of survivors, sabotages the communications of his squad to prevent them from calling HQ. They decide to create a group within the Zone dedicated to fighting against the Zone's 'spawns of evil' - Duty.

eternal oyster

well, no... limansk is up in the fog by the red forest, duga is separated from it by malachite

mossy nimbus

but how by Monolith do they want to do sequel considering far-reaching consequencies those endings have, I dunno

Yeah… if there’s a sequel I’m gonna assume either no ending will be canon or it’ll be the Spark ending

Potentially the Doctor’s, if they wanna increase the scale

mossy nimbus
# outer depot Rrrragh I want MORE GUNS

I'd prefer proper rebalance based on caliber and so on, like in of mods... find it quite bs that rifle designed for penetrating heavy armors like Vintorez has penetration value like 2 out of 5 in S2

eternal oyster
#

which is why buckshot is scary. your plates may stop it, but you're gonna have some major broken ribs and be unable to breathe. god bless realistic shotguns.

mossy nimbus
outer depot
eternal oyster
outer depot
#

Which is potato velocity

eternal oyster
#

subsonic is made to be quiet, not armour penetrating.

mossy nimbus
#

guess I should clarify that Vintorez was designed for quiet dispatching of enemies over short-to-mid distances and for targets having body armors

outer depot
#

Big stupid fat slow bullets are pretty bad for actual AP, you can just make them slightly less bad

eternal oyster
#

you can only sharpen a bolt so much.

mossy nimbus
#

and since subsonic bullets cannot travel far you gotta make do with distance they can do

#

also, making high-end rifle IRL like HK416 to be entry level weapon? C'mon

river lintel
#

I end up just using something 7.62

eternal oyster
#

the bigger it is, either the slower it is or the more you gotta propel it. and 9x39 isn't a small round. that and being subsonic... it's meh. I don't see the point.

river lintel
sour narwhal
#

To cycle suppressed weapons too old and soviet for a nilsen device

outer depot

The point is that it’s designed for use with integrally suppressed rifles and that’s it

#

eternal oyster
#

saw a diagram where the VSS/VAL baffles were literally /\/\/\/\/\

outer depot
#

It’s an incredibly inefficient suppressor design

sour narwhal
#

9x39 punches like abastard though. you gotta think - it's slower than traditional 9mm, it's girthy as 9mm, but it's got twice the length of 9x18/19 so it's got nearly twice the amount of weight behind it

outer depot
#

Eh 250 gr or so sounds impressive but it’s not actually hitting that hard in account of the vel

#

Relative to pistol rounds sure

eternal oyster
#

it's more like a punch than a bullet. it's gonna energy transfer the fuck outta you but it's not insanely penetrating

sour narwhal
#

if getting shot with 9x19 is like being stabbed with a knife then being shot with 9x39 is like being gutted with the end of a halberd

outer depot
#

It’s like 500 ft lbs though

#

5.56 is like

#

1k iirc

#

9x39 is just a dumptruck ass bullet going at true potato speed

mossy nimbus
#

Tbf, Vintorez was not designed to be like assault/battle rifle but more like to give some edge to clandestine/Spetznaz units against enemies wearing body armors so makes sense it should not be used for fights over longer distances

sour narwhal
#

Normal 9mm (fiocchi) is rated for 115gr moving at about 1200 fps and thus, 19.18 footlbs
